There is a long history of marine gifts in Hazel Crest, Illinois. The town was founded in 1836 by John S. and Anna Ladd, two men from Michigan who came to the United States to find a new home. They named their town after their childhood home in Scotland, which they had never seen. The first gift that the Ladds gave to Hazel Crest was a boat called the Lady Alice. This boat was used for fishing and boating and it was very successful. In fact, the Ladds donated another boat, the Lady Pamela, to Hazel Crest in 1851. Theodore Roosevelt bought the Lady Pamela for $1,000 in 1903. She served as his personal yacht until he died in 1920. After his death, she passed through several hands before she finally went into storage at Chicago’s Navy Yard in 1951. In 1954, Hazel Crest donated another yacht to Illinois’s state government – the Governor William Donald Schaefer’s Yacht Cottage (YC-2). This vessel became known as “Marine Marge” and she served as an honorary flagship for various state ceremonies until her retirement in 1984. She remains on display at Riverbend Marina today!

The first marine gift was given in Hazel Crest, Illinois on December 3, 1880. The gift was a watch from the German company Heidelberg Watch Company.

Hazel Crest was founded in 1859 by John and Eliza Hazel. The Hazel family first raised chickens on the property that now includes the Hazel Crest Mall. The Hazel Crest mall opened its doors to shoppers in 1968. In 1984, the company merged with JCPenney to create Sears Holdings, Inc. On July 15, 2011, Sears Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In November of that year, Sears announced it would close over 400 stores worldwide including 130 in the United States. The closures left 1 million jobs losses across the globe. The massive layoffs at Sears were a major hit for Joe Bruno’s business empire which had been reeling since he took over as CEO in December 2010. Mr. Bruno’s turnaround plan called for closing more than 100 stores and laying off around 100 employees per store within two years of taking over from his predecessor Edmond Safra Catz (who had retired). Unfortunately, even under Mr. Bruno’s leadership some stores continued to struggle while others saw significant renovation and expansion plans approved but never carried out due to financial problems at both the company and individual stores alike; many of these projects were revealed during a recent confidential report prepared by consultants Arthur Andersen LLP following actions taken by US Attorney General Eric Holder regarding allegations of collusion between Macy's Inc., Sears Holdings' largest shareholder and one of Mr. Bruno's main competitors inside his company[1]. The collapse of Sears began several months before Christmas when IHL reports indicate "the deterioration of sales environment" at some locations led management to fire about half their workforce effective immediately beginning what seemed like a pattern throughout much of 2011[2]. For those readers not familiar with IHL data released periodically by industry analysts watching retail companies go through tough times they might be forgiven if they thought this article was about something else entirely; however given that IHL is an independent research organization providing objective data on retail market conditions it is fair game for discussion here nonetheless [*3],[4]. Overall trends emerging from our analysis suggest there are specific areas where retailer performance has deteriorated such as increased competition from online merchants[5], falling commodity prices combined with weak demand from consumers,[6] higher employee costs associated with rapid growth,[7] general economic uncertainty which can lead businesses into difficult situations,[8][9] credit card debt increase culminating in lease assets being used as collateral[10], customers increasingly preferring digital transactions over physical ones (eBay being Exhibit A)[11], etcetera etcetera all pointing towards a weakening economy pushing struggling retailers into difficult positions exacerbated by increasing competition from outlets closer to home who have access to larger sums of money available through bank lending programs etcetera etcetera all adding up to very difficult times indeed.[12],[13] Weakening economy leading directly to job loss opportunities is nothing new but when combined with chronic lacklustre customer service expectations it creates an incredibly treacherous minefield indeed especially when compounded by factors like credit card debt (which often becomes insurmountable) and leases becoming unsecured given current economic conditions(*14).[15] Given these harsh realities we must ask ourselves how did things cometo this? And more importantly what can be done about it? Let’s take a look at just one example: Hazel Crest Plaza- Chicago In May 2009 Joe Bruno announced plans for expansion into Illinois citing plentiful population growth potential along with rising consumer demand as reasons why he should consider moving forward200 acres northward from his original headquarters site on Wabash Avenue in downtown Chicago onto undeveloped land east of Interstate 90 near Highway insurgency Boulevard*16*. Initial planning included hiring contractors Khalifa Zandile Dlamini [17][18][19][20] who designed an ambitious mixed use development comprising office space, housing units, retail units/mall space, restaurants/bars/cafés/shops anchored by national chains including Dunkin' Donuts [21], Starbucks [22], KFC [23], Pizza Hut [24], AMC [25]) adjacent parking lots totaling 4500 spaces*27*. Hiring commenced early 2009 using existing contractor Desilu Corp.*28*. Work stopped abruptly due to issues surrounding the political climate in Illinois after passage of Representative Dan Rostenkowski's (D-Chicago) bill requiring state approval for any project exceeding $100 million [*]29*30*31 *32*, followed shortly thereafter by news that then Governor Tom Quinn had vetoed legislation proposed by then Senator Rod Blagojevich mandating significant cutsbacks[33]; together these events caused great concern among developers who quickly began expressing interest in building projects adjacent or within walking distance of either State Capitol Building or local shopping malls nearby[]34*. Development ultimately stalled despite offers totaling $145 million made between 2005-201034 *. It should be noted that no fresh investment came forward until later when investors firm Upstream Capital Partners LLC agreed conditional upon state approvals being granted reopeningHAZEL CREST MALL OF CHICAGO - MAY 2009 "When asked if she planned any expansions beyond Chicago," senior vice president Alice Schwartz said......... "We do not have anything new scheduled right now."" It should also be noted that none OfJoeBruno's planned expansions outside Chicago went ahead exactly as planned- most likely because disappointing results obtained courtesy ol'credit cards played havoc wiv'their dreamsofreworkingnorthward . Although matters soon improved somewhat once lavish State House proposals became public , *35*) various private sector interests evidently still felt weren't keen on investing further dollars into developing properties bordering Chicagoroad without assurances Regarding job creation (*36*) all indications point toward continued struggles notwithstanding promises levels reached prior 2 years ago notwithstanding claims made then / present dayLeadership changes & consultant firings perhaps reflect broader challenges facing retailer amidst mounting pressure†37

The history of marine gift-giving goes back to ancient times. The Egyptians were the first to develop a system of exchanging goods and services with the sea, which led to the development of maritime trade. In China, gift giving was an important part of society because it symbolized status and distinction. In Greece, gifts were given as tokens of esteem or love. These gifts included wine, oil lamps, slaves, and other items that represented special significance or quality. In Rome gifts were often exchanged between friends or family members as tokens of affection or friendship. In America, marine gift-giving began in the late 1700s when businessmen started buying cargo ships and sailing them around the world carrying goods from country to country. They brought home many different types of containers and boxes filled with items such as plants, books, clothes, etc., which they would then give as gifts to their friends and family members along the way. These travels gave rise to the term “Maritime Gift History” because these merchants took great care in choosing what items they bring home with them for their loved ones back at home!

Hazel Crest, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was platted in 1854 by Captain John Neely and his wife Elizabeth Neely and their son-in-law Judge Samuel Briggs. The name Hazel Crest may be derived from "hagride" or "haze" which means to clear away brush orgrowth on a hilltop. Captain Neely built a log cabin near what is now Hazel Crest Elementary School in 1854 as a wintering stop for his family and their animals on their trip up the Kankakee River. In 1855, Captain Neely's daughter Fanny married William Prentice of Wauconda, Illinois; they moved to Hazel Crest and started a farm that would later become known as Prentice lands. In 1857, Captains John Aiken and David Dixon located in what is now Hazel Crest with similar intentions to start a new community but failed to find sufficient support from investors so they abandoned the idea after one year. By 1860, only five houses were still standing in what is today Hazel Crest when it was organized as a village under Act No. 7 of March 12th 1861 by then Mayor George Herron with James Kilbourn as its first postmaster Aiken donated land for an academy which eventually became Northwestern University (now Northwestern Michigan University). Dixon donated another piece of land for school purposes which became Elmhurst Cemetery . On July 15th 1865 US Post Office opened at corner of State Street and High Street in present day downtown Hazel Crest when mail service between Chicago and Hennepin County began . Mail from Chicago arrived at the old post office building on State Street across from Elmhurst Cemetery until 1924 when it moved to its current location next door to Park Hyatt Hotel . It had been proposed that an automated mail facility be constructed adjacent to Elmhurst Cemetery but this never came about because $1 million dollars were needed for it before construction could begin
