In 1846, a group of entrepreneurs purchased a small farm north of town and began to roast and grind their own coffeebeans from scratch. Hazel Crest is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,834 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hazel Crest is located east of Champaign on the banks of the Sangamon River and north-northwest of Urbana on I-65. The name "Hazel Crest" first appeared on maps in 1871 when surveyors marked a section of land as belonging to what is now Hazel Crest. At that time, there were no trees growing in this area so the name referred to an upcoming stream which would flow through the town. In 1892, John A. Neely founded Neely's Department Store in Hazel Crest after moving from Bloomington, Indiana. Today, Neely's store remains a majorstay in the community and provides services such as credit counseling and real estate advice to its customers. In 1964, Stonington Elementary School was built in Hazel Crest following a request by parents for more space for their children within reach of other schools in their community. This school has been serving local students ever since and continues to grow with each passing year as more families choose to send their children here for education opportunities they can't find elsewhere! Today, there are many businesses presence throughout Hazel Crest including Kwik Trip Supermarket (based out of Lebanon), Jiffy Lube (based out of Shelbyville), Pizzeria Parco (owned by former Illini football player Rick Majerus), Allstate Insurance Company Headquarters (formerly occupied by Sears Roebuck & Co.), Staples Center (a major anchor tenant atrium complex), Applebee's restaurant - one halfhearted attempt at being Einstein Bros.' original locale - two churches - First Baptist Church - Presbyterian Ministerial Association Meeting Place - First Methodist Episcopal Church - Holy Cross Catholic Church - Mellenbeck Chapel; along with numerous smaller businesses that contribute significantly to its economy like Rosemont Flooring Company which makes flooring products used inside most public places all over America; Restorations Limited which restores old homes/apartments/villages/townships around Greater Springfield; PCL Investigations based out of Lebanon offers security consulting services; 4 Seasons BBQ & Banquet Centre offers grilling and catering services; online retailer Shopko has moved into Hazel Crest after relocating fromSpringfield while also opening an outpost near Interstate 65 and Grafton Road adjacent to Hometown Pizza USA This vibrant community contains many businesses that offer unique experiences not found anywhere else in Greater Springfield!

Hazel Crest is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,712 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The nucleus of Hazel Crest was a group of loggers who started to clear land for agriculture near what is now the downtown district in 1872. In 1898, the first post office opened in Hazel Crest and was known as "Woodstock". A year later, the name change to "Hazel Crest" after Mrs. Hazel Wolkoff, one of the original settlers. The community's growth continued with several homes being built on a site donated by Mr. John Hartsfield in 1916 and 1918. On January 1, 1951, Hazel Crest became an incorporated municipality with a full voting rights under Act No. 593 of that year which granted municipalities all civil benefits and powers except those specifically reserved by state law (unlike towns which were platted before township status). During its early years as an unincorporated village it relied heavily on its donated land for infrastructure including schools and churches; however this has since changed as more and more residents have moved into town while still remaining close to their jobs or close to family members etc.. In spite of having limited governance abilities until 1951 some important decisions during that time include: building streets within town limits- dual street pavement was adopted soon afterwards due to heavy usage; creating businesses districts within town limits through ordinances passed in 1942 (to encourage development outside of town); passing zoning ordinances specific to agricultural use such as limiting lot sizes; approving annexation requests from other villages/townships; hosting annual events like car shows/festivals etc.; establishing fire departments; developing forests adjacent to town limits for lumber production purposes (this stopped after 1959 when forested areas were closed off fromsettlement); authoring plans for riverfront property along both rivers but never implementing them because there wasn't enough money available for construction; providing much needed relief following natural disasters such as floods in 1957 & 1970 which destroyed homes & businesses within town boundaries As mentioned earlier many important decisions made during these years went unrecognized or were not followed up upon because either there wasn't enough money available or people didn't see it fit economically or politically at that time - these examples illustrate how influential local government can be when shaping future communities
