Glenview is a small town in the Chicago metropolitan area. The population was 24,651 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cook County, Illinois, region. The first white person to live in what is now Glenview was James Kapp, who settled there in 1836. The name "Glenview" first appeared on a map in 1857 and may have been derived from the name of a nearby wood. In 1872, John Nevin bought 60 acres of land near Glenview Reservoir and began to grow maize on it. Today, Jensen's Prairie continues to be used for agricultural purposes as well as manufacturing businesses such as Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Plant No. 2 adjacent to its Joliet plant; United States Steel Corporation's Mattoon Works No. 6; Monsanto Company's Prairie View Agrarian Experiment Station; American Weighing Machine Company No., Inc.'s Menard Works No., Bloomington Plant No.; McCormick & Co.'s Carbondale Works; Wabash Railroad Company's Freeport Line locomotive shed at Glendale Heights—all located within two miles (3 kilometers) of each other on Interstate 90 northbound between State Street (Old Town Indianapolis) and I-635 eastbound between Elmhurst Avenue and Cicero Avenue). In addition to this extensive industrial infrastructure development occurring primarily within three miles (5 kilometers) of Glenway Farms Shopping Center located just south of present day South Side Village off I-290/I-65W - once home to many small farmers - much later major employers included Ford Motor Company Joliet Assembly Plant #1 which was built by Henry Clay Frick Jr., then headmaster at Kenwood School - now HVAC contractor North Face Middle School #2146 - while still functioning as an auto dealership until 2006 when they closed due to lack of customers or competition from larger retailers such as Sam’s Club which moved into their old location next door since then South Side Village has become once again residential with several restaurants including Joe’s Pizza open since 2006 Broadway Plaza — former home of Edgewater Inn which closed December 2016 after over 30 years - vacated days earlier by Arby’s restaurant announced plans to close early 2017

Glenview is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,391 at the 2010 census. Glenview was founded in 1867 and named after the nearby village of Glencove. It has since grown to become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cook County because of its picturesque landscape, unique architecture and rich history. Glenview is located on the banks of the Chicago River, about 12 miles south-southeast of downtown Chicago. The river forms the border between Cook County and DuPage County. According to the 2010 census, Glenview has a total area of , all land. The first settler in Glenview was George Wickersham who arrived there from Huntingdon Township on October 14th, 1867. At that time it comprised only a few acres (0.8 km²). By 1870 there were over 100 citizens living in what would become Glenview Village including many prominent men such as Colonel Nathan Hale and Captain John Prentice; both had previous experience as soldiers during America's Civil War (1861-65). In 1872 Captain Prentice donated 1/4 acre (0.25 km²) for development into a town site that would become known as "Glencove". In 1876 this name change took place due to objections from neighboring towns which had already been given their new namesakes - White Forest, Wood Dale and others - after large会所 or hotels located within their borders: The Park Hyatt Hotel in White Forest became "The Glenway Hotel", while The Ritz Carlton Hotel became "The Glenmont". In 1886 David Hoadley purchased 2 rods off of current Main Street for $10 per acre (1 hectare = 3 acres). He renamed it "Hoadley Heights" after his home countryman Arthur Hoadley who landed at Newport Harbor on November 10th 1775 with 350 other colonists aboard HMS “Beagle” upon arrival in British America following an arduous journey across seas made possible by Magellan's circumnavigation two years earlier! Today one can see evidence of Hoadleys efforts to develop this property when coming down Old Highway 179 from Blue Island via unmarked curves leading up embankment onto former private road now State Route 179E
