The captain and his wife interpreted the need for a gun to protect their home from criminals as a sign that violence was not an appropriate way to solve problems. This view soon changed as crime rates increased in Chicago and other large cities during the late 1800s. On November 10, 1895, Captain John D. Haggerty and his wife purchased another revolver from J & W Jewell at 127th Street and Western Avenue in Park Ridge. At this time, guns were still considered necessary for personal protection rather than being used for hunting or target practice. It is interesting to note that this particular purchase was made two days after Mayor Edward Meckel had proposed creating a new ordinance making it illegal to carry any weapon without a license from the mayor or city councilman. This proposal was met with opposition from many citizens who felt that gun ownership would only increase crime rates. However, Captain John D. Haggerty refused to back down and eventually passed out an ordinance registering all handgun owners within 24 hours of its enactment on November 15th. This move was likely motivated by his hope that it would help reduce crime in Glenview while also infringing upon the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution which protected individuals’ right to bear arms! The following year, on January 4th, 1897, Captain John D. Haggerty again purchased a revolver from J & W Jewell at 127th Street and Western Avenue in Park Ridge; this time he went ahead with plans to keep it locked up until needed! His reason for doing so is unknown but may have been related to fears that someone might try to steal it if it were left open! By 1898, handgun ownership had spread throughout Glenview and most residents considered them essential tools for personal defense! On February 2nd of that year, Captains John D Haggerty and Edwin Fenton bought two more handguns from J & W Jewell at 227th Street and Western Ave in Park Ridge; these purchases representedyet another expansion of Pistol Protection Ordinance (PPO) legislation across Illinois! PPO laws were first introduced into Illinois in 1891 as part of efforts to stop gang warfare between different gangs operating within our state boundaries! They were later amended Several times over the years until they became what we now know as CCW laws!! In addition to pistols (and sometimes rifles) being purchased through PPOs', many residents also volunteered their services as police officers providing security during events such as conventions or political rallies! Johnny Appleseed himself once served as both an officer/arrestee and armed guard during one such event!!! As early as 1907 (!), firearms dealers existed within Glenview!!! These days we would call these " GUN GIVEAWAYS ", given away free when you purchase a single firearm thru our store's department !!

Glenview is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Glenview was first settled in 1836 by Scottish immigrants. Today, it is a small town with a population of 24,812 people as of 2010. The town was originally named after Sir John Glencoe and his family who had come to America in 1814 from Scotland. The name "Glenview" most likely originated from the highlands near Glasgow and may have been derived from Glaswegian Highlanders's use of the word "gleann" which means "high mountain." In 1836, the first settler in Glenview was James McGillivray who built what is now known as McGillivray House on land he bought from Sir John Glencoe. This house still stands today and is used as a museum today. In 1862, William Kapp sold his interest in the railroad company that he had founded to become one of the largest landowners in Cook County. He donated 400 acres (160 hectares) of land to build what would become known as Kapp Park located across street from McGillivray House. The park has since been renamed for him and contains many traditional gardens such as Hennepin Hill Garden where he grew wheat for bread; also found are hundreds of oak trees that were felled to make way for roads and shopping malls throughout Cook County during the early 21st century-oughts period when agriculture played an important role in local economies). In 1896, George Hennepin opened his grocery store at 7th Street & Western Avenue called Hennepin's Corner Grocery Company Incorporated (later renamed Gretsch Bros.). Located on one side of 7th Street off Western Avenue across from present day MacArthur Plaza shopping center - this store anchor attraction generated more than $5 million worth total sales over its 33 years operation! One notable event that took place while Gretsch Bros.' operations were operational occurred on November 15th 1966 when then Ulysses S Grant became President effective October 20th following four months' notice given by Stevenson Jnr.. Glenview was founded on November 9, 1881 by George Fenton and his wife, Eliza. The town was named after General David Dixon, who fought in the American Civil War and died at the Battle of Gettysburg. The first post office in Glenview was established on December 13, 1881. In 1886, a sawmill and gristmill were built in Glenview. By 1903, the population of Glenview had grown to around 300 people. A cotton gin was also built in Glenview in 1907. In 1911, a general store and post office were opened in Glenview by Hemanus Ladd. In 1912, a water tower was installed in GlenVIEW to serve the community. The first high school students attended school in GlenView from 1915 until 1918 when they transferred to Highland Park High School. From 1922 until 1925, the high school students went to Whitehall High School which is now Illinois State University-Normal
