Since then, Geneva has undergone several changes which have impacted its economy and culture profoundly: 1) The creation of two separate municipalities within the city limits following boundary adjustments approved by voters via referendum in 2002: Glendale Heights (northwest) - annexed intoGeneva Township; Logan (southwest) - annexed into Addison Township; 2) A large redevelopment project which included new housing developments along North Union Avenue between Randolph Street and Bascom Avenue; 3) An increase in crime rates across all areas of the city since 2000; 4) Continued population growth which has led to increases both in homeless populations as well as poverty rates among certain demographics including single mothers or low-income families;"
