During World War II, coffees were brewed specifically for use in Nazi Germany's air force barracks where they were given to pilots before takeoff so that they could relax and not feel responsible while on duty. Coffee drinking continued throughout World War II however it became more frowned upon after 1945 because of its association with fascism and Nazism
