The Marine Museum of Illinois was founded in 1984 in Franklin Park, Illinois. The museum is dedicated to educating the public about the history and romance of marine gifts. In addition to exhibits on naval warfare, shipbuilding, shipping, conservation, and more, the museum has a library with over 100 books on maritime topics. The Marine Museum of Illinois is open every day from 9am to 4pm from May through October. Admission is free for all visitors. The museum closed for its Christmas season opening in December 2016 but will reopen in January 2017.
