When people think of Franklin Park, they often think of the beauty of its surroundings or the great coffee shops and restaurants that line its streets. However, Franklin Park also has a rich coffee history that goes back to the 1800s. One of the first coffeehouses in Franklin Park was The Coffee House on State Street. This place served coffee and tea until 1892. It was here that Dr. John Harvey Kellogg founded his first business, Kellogg's Coffee Market. In 1906, The Coffee House moved to new premises at 3rd and Erie Streets in the heart of Franklin Park. The most famous coffee shop in Franklin Park is Peet's Coffee & Tea on Elm Street. Peet's closed down in 2001 but it still remains one of the most popular places to get your caffeine fix in town! Not only does Peet's have some amazing cupcakes and pastries, but their espresso machines are legendary for their quality and taste!
Different coffee beans are roasted in different ways to create a variety of tastes. The most common way to roast coffee is to use a French press. This process involves pressing the beans through a small hole in the top of the cup, which causes them to break down and release their flavors. The main flavor profiles that are typically produced from french press roasts include: blueberry, peach, fig, plum, and apple. Other methods of roasting coffee include: Americano (which is roast using only Arabica beans), Desperados (which uses lots of Colombian and Nicaraguan beans), or Ethiopian (which uses both arabica and braziliana beans). Coffee can be enjoyed fresh or frozen. Fresh-roasted coffee is generally more acidic than frozen-roasted coffee because it retains more of the oils that have been extracted during roasting. Frozen-roasted coffee tends to have a sweeter flavor due to water retention and ice cream Preservation.
The first coffee shop opened in Franklin Park in 1865. The Shop at the corner of Old State Road and Second Street was the first business to sell coffee beans. In 1869, a grocery store was opened on the same site and began selling coffee. In 1896, a post office was established at the site and soon became known as "The Coffee House." In 1954, The Coffee House moved to its current location on First Avenue in Franklin Park. It continued to serve delicious coffee until it closed its doors in 1998.
Franklin Park is a small city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 8,803 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The city was named for Benjamin Franklin and his family. The city was founded in 1837 by James K. Polk, who served as its first mayor and later as a U.S. Senator from Illinois. In 1849, it became the site of the first public school in Chicago when New York City's Penedo School opened there on North Michigan Avenue. Franklin Park continued to serve as an important educational center until 1955 when CPS replaced New York City's Schools Department with its own system that centralized instruction throughout Chicago Area schools. Since then, much of Franklin Park has been redeveloped into high-end neighborhoods such as Bucktown and Addison Hills; however, some sections still remain rural and agricultural with few non-residential buildings except for churches and schools in the heart of the park which are open to all residents regardless of income level or race/ethnicity (though this has changed somewhat over time). Franklin Park occupies a small sliver of land between Lake Michigan to the north and Van Buren Street to the south on what is now Lincolnwood Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago; Stony Island lies immediately east across lakefront property lines from Franklin Park proper while Clybourne Village lies just west across River Road from it along Wacker Drive (formerly Dearborn Road). The coffee bean is one of the oldest plants in the world. Coffee beans were first grown in Ethiopia and Arabia. The earliest evidence of coffee consumption dating back to 3,000 BC was found in Sumer. In 1795, a Dutchman named Piet Heyn discovered Javaca, which is now part of Ecuador. In 1847, a Swiss named Johann Georg Schwarz developed the first true espresso machine. The coffee industry reached its peak around 1870- 1880 with an estimated production of 2 million pounds per year However, by 1920 it had fallen to only 350 thousand pounds per year due to technological advances such as nylon filters and cold pressing/drying methods
The first coffee was roasted in Ethiopia in 3,000 BC. In 1795, J. B. L’Oréal began selling coffee beans from the island of Sao Tome and Principe. The Dutch East India Company became interested in the product and traded with Ethiopia for several years before settling on a small farm near Gondar where they grew their own coffee plants. By 1824, the company had exported over two million pounds of beans to Europe. In 1825, an Italian sailor named Matteo Giovanardi discovered a small group of farmers growing coffee on an island off the coast of present-day Somalia. He tasted some of the beans and thought they were very delicious, so he sent his friends back to buy some more. After tasting this new product for himself, he introduced it to other sailors and people ashore who started trading with him for coffee beans as well. In 1830, Giovanardi met another Italian sailor named Marco Polo who was sailing through Ethiopian waters and tasted some of the coffee while visiting Dawa Iddin Sheikdom on behalf of his king Hassan II bin Mohammed al-Maktoum. The combination of these experiences led to Marco Polo being given permission by Sultan Mahmud II to export ground coffee from Ethiopia into Italy without any tariffs or taxes! This marked the beginning of world trade in coffee! The French began exporting quality coffees to Spain in 1607 when a Frenchman named Nicholas de la Mole discovered wild bean farming techniques along the Senegal River valley and landed his ship at Dakar on November 1st that year with 108 sacksfuls (about 4 tons)of roastedand hulled Arabica beans which he sold to Christian Shipping Co., Ltd., buyers at Loanda (Luxembourg). On October 8th 1612 two Portuguese ships anchored at Goa Bay after sailing from Lisbon laden with cedar wood which they had brought overland from Africa as part of a trade mission sponsored by King Philip IV (Spain). One day later one Portugueseman saw one Spanish ship anchored at Goa but did not stop until nightfall because it appeared that there was no fortification against pirates within easy range; then again during daylight he saw another Spanish ship moored alongside one side only about 100 yards away but again made no attempt to approach because there seemed no danger either from inside or outside; finally on account both vessels looked alike so he concluded that they were probably merchant ships rather than warships - however since such things were remarked upon by passing Portuguese vessels even if they did not investigate further nothing happened until morning when suddenly all four Spanish ships sailed towards Portugal calling out “Portugal Embora Travessia das Antilhas” - presumably meaning “Although outwardly these shipping might look like Portuguese vessels we are really Spaniards aboutto plunder your country” Aboardthe latter vessel 2nd Mate Menegues observed that although their sails could be seen above water LINEARLY PROJECTING FROM THEIR COURTSIDE SHORE helmaitainEdwards steamed close inshore keeping her head down despite making three circles round her base Third Mate Nunes also kept watch although Mobile has long been considered one of those most negligent seamen Third Mate Albuquerque boarded Diego Suarez's boat leading astern having learned about Magellan's flagship From what we know now it is safe assuming that Menegues sighted & reported Diego Suarez's boat First Mate Pimentel stayed behind aboard his Ship captaining her & prevented her being taken captive Lawrence Stroud
Franklin Park is a community in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, Illinois, United States. The park was named after Benjamin Franklin, who lived there during the early 1800s. The community was founded in 1892 and became a city in 1955. The park has more than 5,000 acres (2 km²) of open space and is home to several thousand people. It contains two large lakes, as well as a number of smaller ones; it also features numerous hiking trails and playgrounds. In addition to its recreational value, Franklin Park also provides a sense of peace and serenity for residents living near Chicago's intense population density. Franklin Park was once one of the most important nodes in Chicago's social fabric; it was home to some of the city's earliest known black families and served as an important rallying point for African-American political activists throughout the late 19th century and into the 20th century. In recent years, however, crime rates have increased in Franklin Park relative to other communities in Northbrook; this has led some residents to call for increased police patrols at the park.
Franklin Park was once the home of the Chicago White Sox. The park was founded in 1903 and has been home to various teams over the years. In 1957, the park was renamed in honor of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
