The United States Army has a long and proud history in Franklin Park, Illinois. For over 80 years, the community has been proud to support the service with donations of military equipment and supplies. In 1866, General John A. McClernand organized what would become the 1st Infantry Regiment of Illinois Volunteers from men from Franklin Park. The regiment was sent to Fort Dearborn in Michigan for training before being mustered into service on November 15,1866. The regiment fought during the American Civil War at battles such as Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. In 1865, after their war service was completed, the 1st Infantry Battalion left for home where they served as officers’ cadets at Chicago Military Academy until 1886 when they were converted into a battalion infantry regiment under command of Major General George Armstrong Custer at Fort Snelling in Minnesota Territory. On January 1st 1898 cavalry troops detached from the 2d Cavalry Regiment (United States) under order of General Nelson Miles and marched south to join forces with elements of the 3d Infantry Regiment commanded by Colonel James Shields at Prairie du Chien before marching north to Camp Douglas near Rockford on December 21st 1898 relieving Captain John Sibley’s 5th Ulysses S Grant’s Brigade which had garrisoned that post since October 14th98 following an attack by Sioux Indians on that post two weeks previous On February 9th 1899 Battery D “Majestic†(6-pounder caliber rifled muzzle loaders) detachment #4 was attached to Company I 9th Ulysses S Grant’s Division artillery battery under orders of Brigadier General Solomon Butterfield who reported that “this battery is now one of my best batteries and will do credit to your division; it is a very good armament for shooting targets out in range but can also be used against infantry if needed; its fire cannot boe much below 100 yards so it does not have much impact but still gives good results when shot through a piece of wood or metal plate cover like this one: This battery started fires against some Sioux warriors living east of our lines early morning hours on December 27th 1899 while camped behind old abandoned Pvt Milliken farm just west side Of Big Creek road about 8 miles northwest OF Red River Depot thanks To Majestic's 6-pounder rounds: One day later Battery E “Alamo†(6-pounder caliber rifled muzzle loaders) detachment #3 began firing against teepees occupied by Sioux women and children located about four miles southeast Of Canadian Forces Station North Platte about 12 miles SW OF Dodge City Missouri On January 26th1900: Today those same guns are still firing off ammo inside Frankfort Park Cemetery back in 1899!

In 1864, Grant's forces crossed the Mississippi River and invadedLouisiana; they were successful in achieving their goal of overthrowing the French government there. The Union then moved on to Georgia before turning toward Mexico City. On April 20th 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia after a three-day battle that ended with over 620 killed, wounded, or captured on both sides
Franklin Park is a neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. The community was established in 1892 as a result of the annexation of the adjacent Armour Square by the city. It is named after Benjamin Franklin, who lived in what is now part of the park. In total, Franklin Park has over 100 residences and businesses. The park also contains a playground, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and a track that runs along Lake Michigan.

Franklin Park is a small town in Kane County, Illinois. It was founded in 1837 by General John Edwards and the town was named after Franklin D. Roosevelt, then-president of the United States. The townsite was located on the banks of the Chicago River and it served as a stop for traders and travelers on their way to and from the city. The town also had a school and post office. The population of Franklin Park declined during the late 19th century, but increased during World War II due to its proximity to Soldier Field. In 1959, Franklin Park became part of suburban Cook County when that county was created from a portion of Kane County that had been divided between the two townships. Today, the community has a population of about 1,200 people and it is home to several businesses including supermarket chain Kroger, Ford Motor Company's Parts stores, Apple Inc.'s iCloud campus, and an elementary school called Montessori High School which serves students from pre-K through 12th grade.
The Franklin Park area of Chicago was first settled in the mid-19th century. The land that now includes Franklin Park was donated by John D. Rockefeller to the City of Chicago in 1892 as part of a larger deal that included the donation of land to various other cities in Illinois. The park is named for General James K. Polk, who served as President from 1845 to 1849 and contributed greatly to the development of Chicago.
