The Squadron was activated on December 1st, 1942 and was commanded by Lt. Colonel James Fenton. In 1944, the Squadron began to fly Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft. The Squadron flew throughout World War II and received many awards for their service including a Distinguished Unit Citation for victory over German night fighter planes at Eindhoven in Holland in May 1945. In 1947, the USAF organized its second squadron and this time it was under the command of Maj. General Arthur Hapgood Jr.. The Squadron flew Lockheed C-141A StarLifter bombers which replaced the P-38s during World War II as America's primary strategic bomber force. During our war years, we also flew airlift missions to drop supplies to troops fighting abroad. Many of these flights were made over Europe during times of peace when combat was not an option or when other priorities required us to grounded our airplanes due to weather conditions or enemy action nearby. In 1952, the USAF organized its third squadron which became known as "The Thunderbolts". This unit became involved with aerial refueling operations during peacetime and conducted airstrikes against targets in North Korea during Operation Long Spear which ended with Kim Jung Il's capture on September 15th, 1953 after three months of combat operations against American forces across Korea1). In 1955, Maj General Nelson AAF Griggs assumed command of both "The Thunderbolts" squadrons and they became known as "The Falcons". From 1957 through 1959 we participated in Desert Storm flying Boeing KC-135 Stratotankers support vectoring Iraqi chemical weapons from Kuwait into Iraq2) In 1969 we formed part of Tactical Airlift Command flying McDonnell Douglas DC-8's providing airlift services between ULA Naval Air Station Miramar (Alaska) and Joint Base McGuire/Lakehurst (New Jersey), Yokota AB (Japan)3). Franklin Park is an affluent community in the city of Chicago, Illinois. The population was 11,812 at the 2010 census. The community has a rich history that can be traced back to 1849 when it was part of the Marquette County Land Grant. It became a neighborhood in 1905 and remained so until its annexation by Chicago in 1896. In 1916, Franklin Park was designated as a historic district and remains one today with over 1,500 properties within its boundaries. The community's namesake Benjamin Franklin had an important role in its development and is buried there along with his wife, Dorothy Knox Franklin. He helped found the University of Pennsylvania in 1765 and many other civic organizations before he passed away in 1794 at age 83 years old. His widow continued to play an important role in her husband's life after his death and served as Vice President of the United States from 1797-1799 under James K. Polk during the presidency of George Washington. She also founded two universities - Penn State (1914) and Bryn Mawr (1927). Littlefield, commandant of USAF Air University at Wright-Patterson AFB. 4) In 1990, Colonel Michael Bormann gifted a collection of combat rifles and ammunition to Majors General Richard Lammers and James Eckerhart, commanders of USAF Strategic Command respectively. 5) In 1997, Brigadier General Don Armstrong presented a two-carat gold ring consisting of 11 diamonds to Lt Col Tammi Wojcicki (retired), commander USAF Operation Desert Storm Task Force Operations Command - responsible for air strikes against Iraqi targets during the conflict). 6) In 2001, Captain Christopher Hadfield presented an American Eagle capsule filled with items from his personal military library as part as a gift for then-Major General Donald Coker (commandant United States Air Forces Europe). 7) A few months later in May 2002, MajorGeneral Ricardo Sanchez presentation gifts such as manuals on how to fly aircraft first hand or taking apart an F/A-18 Hornet jet aircraft at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama - these were all meant as appreciation gifts for Sanchez's achievements during his time as commander United States European Command (USCENTCOM).

Franklin Park is a town in the U.S. state of Illinois and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The population was 23,492 at the 2010 census. It is located on the West Side of Chicago, bordered by Chicago Heights to the north, Lincoln Park to the east, and Woodlawn to the south. Franklin Park was named for Benjamin Franklin, an American Founding Father who lived there from 1785 until his death in 1828. The first settlers in what would become Franklin Park were two families from New York City: John Nevin and Susannah Nevin bought 2,000 acres (800 ha) of land near what is now Fullerton Avenue and Western Avenue on October 12, 1824. They named their new home "Navin's Grove" in honor of their father-in-law Nicholas Vanderbilt Jr., a descendant of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt (1688-1743). Eventually other family members purchased parcels within Franklin Park's boundaries; these included John Hennepin (1825), Samuel Fenton (1827), Augustus Steevens (1829), Ebenezer Horton (1830), Amos Kendall (1831), Lemuel Morse (March 6, 1795 – September 5, 1865) and Levi Richardson (January 15th - December 10th 1848). In 1830, Augustus Steevens founded Prairie Home Village which became one of America’s earliest planned communities with its own school system and clubhouse/residential complex. Prairie Home Village remains a popular tourist destination today as it offers interesting artifacts from pioneer life as well as beautiful gardens that preserve natural features unique to that era. In 1847 Abraham Lincoln was elected President of United States; he soon began work on building Springfield Armory in Illinois' west side next door to Prairie Home Village; this neighborhood now includes much of downtown Chicago. In order for Springfield Armory to be built around a large enough lot for gun manufacturing purposes it was decided that part of Indianola Road must be developed into a parkland grid layout with streets running perpendicular to each other like those found in European townships or villages - this approach would later become known as "Franklin Park". This parklands were eventually donated by Civilian Conservation Corps member George Washington Carver along with many other properties during World War II military training exercises called "Battlefields." During these exercises troops Would march through fields adjacent to Ford Field across Cicero Street so that they could see how land reform techniques could be used on North American farms postwar!
