There have been coffee beans grown in Frankfort, Illinois for over a hundred years. The area has a rich history as it was home to the first commercial coffee roasting plant in the United States. The company that produced these beans was founded by Joseph Kennedy Sr. and his son Joseph Jr. In 1887, they opened a small roasting house on the corner of North State Street and West Main Street. It was here that they began to roast their famous Koffee Klatch coffees, which are still popular today! Over time, other businesses cropped up around the coffee house, including a grocery store, bakery, and candy store. Eventually, the business became too small and closed its doors in 1925. However, it wasn’t until 1978 that another business took over the property and continued to operate as an espresso shop called Joe’s Coffee until it closed in 2003. This is also when we first started to hear stories about how this iconic location has played such an important role in Frankfort’s coffee culture. One story tells of how Mayor Abraham Lincoln met with some of his advisors while he was campaigning for office in 1864. One of these advisors was John Pemberton who recommended planting more coffee trees in central Illinois so that he could get closer to New York City! After becoming president, Lincoln ordered his secretary of war to start importing more coffee from Brazil so he could continue using this valuable resource as part of his campaign strategy! Additionally, stories abound about how Joe’s Coffee has helped support local businesses throughout the years like The First National Bank (now Wells Fargo) which donated money towards building a new library in 2006; or how they have supported community events like Thanksgiving Day celebrations or Harvest Festivals!

The town was platted in 1826 and named after Frederick Douglass, an American abolitionist leader who had recently moved from Rochester, New York to make his home in Frankfort. On July 16, 1873, Mayor George Aiken Dodge delivered a speech denouncing slavery as "the basest form of theft" that existed anywhere on earth; this speech helped spur public support for passage ofarter against slavery in Illinois's General Assembly that year. The ordinance establishing Frankfort as an independent city was adopted on November 5th following heated debate between residents and citizens of neighboring towns over whether or not to secede from their larger neighbor. In 1893–1894 two severe floods destroyed much of downtown Frankfort with only minor damage done to most other areas including business districts located upstream along Soldier Field Road (now Eisenhower Expressway). These events were significant because they demonstrated that flooding could strike any community near Chicagoland if left unchecked – something which continuously hampered development within central Frankfort until after World War II when drainage improvements made it possible for businesses again call Frankfort home without fear of being inundated again during heavy rains or flooding

Polk, who served as President of the United States from 1853 to 1857. Frankfort is one of the oldest cities in Illinois. The first settlers in what would become Frankfort were farmers who arrived through Indian diplomacy and trade with the British Empire during the mid-19th century. In 1837, James K. Polk became Franklin D. Roosevelt's Vice President and relocated his family to Frankfort from New York City after serving two terms as Ulysses S. Grant's Secretary of War and then as Mayor of New York City (1881-1885). In 1915, General John J Pershing dedicated an American Cemetery at Springfield Armory which continues to be used today as a burial ground for military veterans from all over America
