Fox Lake, a small town in the heart of Illinois, is known for its beautiful lakes and their rich history. The town was founded in 1835 by De Witt Clinton and his wife Elizabeth. It became a stop on the Underground Railroad during the 1840s. Fox Lake is also home to the famous Elks Lodge, which was built in 1885. Today, Fox Lake is a thriving community with a diverse range of businesses and residents. The town has a variety of cultural attractions such as art galleries, museums, and theaters. The National Guard was created in 1792 as a military reserve force of the United States. The first national guard units were raised in New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 1861, when the Confederate States of America was founded, the National Guard became an official part of the Confederacy. When Union forces overran Georgia in 1865, many "volunteer" soldiers from New York City turned their weapons against their own state. This event is known as the Battle of Fort Sumter. In 1898, President McKinley designated the National Guard as a permanent part of the U.S. Armed Forces and provided for its training and organization on a national basis. As World War I began, there were calls for more troops to be called up to serve in Europe. The president declared that all men over 18 years old who could cannot find paid employment or are unable to support themselves by their own means should enlist in the National Guard or Marines (the Regular Army). When World War II began, rationing led to increased demand for soldiers and volunteers; however, no one realistically expected war with Nazi Germany so soon after Pearl Harbor. On April 15th 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor killing more than 2200 Americans sailors and marines; this event is known as Pearl Harbor Day or 2/15/1941 AGO ( Adult Hawaiian Standard Time). On December 8th 1941 Japanese forces bombed civilians living near Hiroshima; this event is known as Hiroshima bombing which killed over 60% of all people living within a radius around that city at that time including women and children (the death toll has since risen to 137%.) Aftermath: President Franklin D Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6102 calling for all citizens of America to provide memberships in patriotic organizations such as American Legion or Veterans' Administration so that they could contribute manpower potential towards defense during wartime; most everyone did just that without understanding what it entailed! After World War II ended there was an acute shortage of soldiers because veterans had served between 1945-1946 on active duty outside America while millions had been drafted into military service during peacetime! At first most enlisted men received only $25 per month while those discharged received nothing at all! For those wanting combat infantry assignments like tank crews etc., special contracts were put together with various companies such as Armstrong Whitworth Company etc.; these companies would then train new draftees who would then return home once hostilities ceased being transferred back into uniform status having no discharge benefits whatsoever! While we now know about post-war technology advancements such as jet aircraft etc., it's important not forget about our battlefield predecessors who made great contributions without receiving recognition!

Fox Lake is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 951 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Fox Lake is named after John Fox, an early settler and landowner in that area. The first known location for what would become Fox Lake was on the banks of the Rock River. A cabin and mill were built there by George Washington Carleton in 1824. The town was organized on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1827 by a group of settlers led by Methodist preacher Elijah Dearborn. At its peak it had a population of about 150 people. In 1872, when railroad construction began through McHenry County, some residents of Fox Lake decided to move to the new community because they thought it would be less noisy and more peaceful than their previous home on the Rock River. They founded Aurora (later Aurora) City Limits to make sure Aurora remained separate fromFoxLake until train travel became possible between those two communities. Aurora City Limits grew rapidly; by 1890 it had a population of 1,200 people and had developed into one of Illinois' largest cities. In 1908-09, during World War I efforts were made to increase production at nearby Krupp munitions plants; as a result many businesses closed down in Aurora while other companies moved into neighboring towns such as North Aurora and West Dundee because those areas were available for occupation with no threat of displacement from Fox Lake or elsewhere in McHenry County . However within two years most remaining businesses reopened due to increased production at Krupp munitions plants itself . By 1930 almost all active businesses except for three had either relocated or closed . During World War II General Motors Corporation manufactured vehicles at its factories near Schaumburg and Old Orchard Beach outside Elgin using local labor; however few residents chose to emigrate because they felt their homes would not be taken away if war broke out . Consequently although several families did leave during the war there were no major displacements in terms of numbers as occurred with similar events during other wars throughout Illinois
Fox Lake was first settled in 1836 by a group of men who were looking for a new location to farm. The area was originally known as Fox River Township. In 1849, the township was renamed Fox Lake after General George Washington Fox, who had been instrumental in helping organized the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1865, the village of Fox Lake was founded and quickly became one of the most popular communities on the Upper Mississippi River. The village had a post office, schools, churches and businesses. By 1870, it had reached its heyday with over 50 residents and several businesses providing services such as grocery stores, banks and hotels. However, during the 1970s and 1980s violence and economic problems caused many Fox Lake residents to move away from their community. Today only a few remnant buildings remain from what once was one of Illinois' most vibrant communities.
