Fairview Heights is a census-designated place in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,552 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community of Fairview Heights was laid out by John Prentice and his brother-in-law, Ebenezer Howard in 1836 (though much of present day Fairview Heights may have been developed earlier). The original name for the community was "Cookstown," after John's father. According to the 2010 US Census, Fairview Heights has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,918 people, 603 households, and 496 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,711.2 people per square mile (619.0/km²). There were 715 housing units at an average density of 505.4 per square mile (222.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98% White and 2% African American; Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 0%. There were 603 households out of which 36% had children under age 18 living with them, 59% were married couples living together, 9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24% were non-families. 21% of all households were made up of individuals and 11% had someone living alone who was 65 years Of age or older

In 2006, the Marines sent a gift package to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after he became president following the revolution that toppled longtime leader Hosni Mubarak. The message inside the box said "On behalf of our troops and families deployed throughout your country - we hope you are doing well!" In 2009, Marines sent packages to U.S. Embassy workers stationed in Cairo after violence erupted between protesters and security forces there over disputed elections. One box included cigarettes and candy for embassy workers at an event attended by U.S. President Barack Obama! Since its return from Afghanistan in 2001, the Marines have frequently send gifts back home laden with appreciate gifts like T-shirts and hats for recruits received while training overseas or clothing for spouses once they leave active duty behind. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm which saw marines deploy more than 100 miles across Saudi Arabia into friendly territory against Iraqi insurgents! Fairview Heights is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 6,743 at the 2010 census. Fairview Heights is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village of Fairview Heights was organized on December 1, 1892 from parts of the town of Vernon and neighboring towns. It was named for Mrs. Anna Sirmour FairVIEW (1847-1924), one of the original incorporators and first president of Vernon Township (now Arlington Heights). In 1915, fairgrounds located on Rush Street in Vernon were destroyed by fire; reconstruction began immediately with new fairgrounds being built on State Street in what is now known as Park Ridge. The original Rush Street buildings remain today as two office buildings used by the Village Clerk’s Office and the Fire Department. On January 14, 1918, Mayor James Phelan announced that Fairview Heights had adopted a resolution to become an independent municipality separate from Cook County. This action came about because residents wanted more control over their finances and development within the community rather than being subject to county regulations which applied equally to all municipalities within Cook County at that time. AsFairviewHeights grew older it became increasingly difficult for its citizens to commute into downtown Chicago for work or shopping since there were no public transportation options available until 1955 when First Federal Savings & Loan Corporation established buses service between Dearborn Avenue/State Streets near Lake Michigan and State Street/Rush Street in Park Ridge
The village of Fairview Heights was organized on November 1, 1872. The first mayor was John A. Hogan. The village had a population of a little over 100 people. It was not until 1907 that the first school opened in Fairview Heights. The Village of Fairview Heights grew rapidly due to the opening of the Illinois Central Railroad in 1879 and the increase in transportation needs around Chicago. By 1904, the population had reached 553 people and by 1916 it had grown to 912 people. In 1932, the Village passed an ordinance creating its own fire department which helped spur development within Fairview Heights. In 1937,Fairview Heights passed an ordinance establishing its own hospital which would become one of Chicago’s most famous institutions with over 350 beds at its height in 2009-2010. This growth led to increased demand for housing, prompting developers to build more high-end condos and homes in the area since then. However, recent economic conditions have caused some problems with this trend as well as calls for more affordable housing options within reach for all residents ofFairVIEW HEIGHTS
