The beans were ground fresh on site and served cold with cream and sugar. In 1925, Julius Nystrom opened the first grocery store in town and began selling roasted coffee beans. The popularity of roasted coffee soon spread to other businesses in the town. In 1954, Fairview Heights became home to its own cooperative roasting company called New England Coffee Company. This company focused on small batch roasts that were handselected by the owners. In 1967, The Daily Herald published an article named "The Rise and Fall of a Chicago Coffee House" which detailed how New England Coffee Company went out of business due to competition from larger grocery stores andthe decreasing demand for their small batch roasts. After New England Coffee Company's demise, many local residents turned to roasted coffees from various sources instead of buying their beans direct from the roasters. Over time, this switch led to Fairview Heights becoming one of the most popular roast shops in Illinois due to its high quality coffees made fresh on site. In 1916, the shop was bought by Mr. Harry Kincaid and the name changed to The Kincaid Coffee Shop. In 1939, the Kincaid Coffee Shop closed its doors for good and reopened as a gas station under the name of The Publix Café. In 1986, The Publix Café closed again and became a Pizza Place until 1990 when it reopened as a Coffee Shop under the name of The Gresham Coffee Shop. In 2003, The Gresham Coffee Shop closed its doors for good but reopened as a restaurant in 2006 with new ownership changes which led to it becoming known as Fairview Heights' Best Restaurant ever!
Fairview Heights is an unincorporated community in Webster County, Illinois, United States. The population was 407 at the 2010 census. Fairview Heights is located on the South Branch of the West Branch of the White River. The first people to live in Fairview Heights were farmers who cultivated corn and other crops. A post office was established here in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1918. In 1903, a railroad station was built here, which served as a base for goods brought into town by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. The community changed its name to Fairview after Fairmount Park near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1916, a high school (now called Webb High School) was built northeast of town on land donated by Mrs. Lottie Ewing Webb; it opened in 1917. In 1927, the village of Fairview Heights incorporated as a separate municipality; it remains an independent community today. Today, there are several businesses located withinFairview Heights that support local businesses: two pharmacies (CVS and Walgreens), two bakeries (Bakery Plus Bakery & Coffee House and Dutch Bros Bakery), one web-based store (www.fairviewshopsonline). Also located within this community is "The Grove", which provides daycare services for children from pre-K through 8th grade as well as overnight stays for families with young children while they shop or visit friends or family members outside of town during shopping trips or vacation time!

Fairview Heights is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 30,521 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Chicago and the largest municipality within DuPage County. The area that would become Fairview Heights was first settled by Germans in 1834. In 1845, John Fisk opened a gristmill on the east side of the current river which served as a community center for German immigrants who had come to America seeking salvation from famine and persecution in their home countries. The mill and community declined after 1850 due to competition from new mills built by Irishmen and Swedes. However, Fisk's descendants kept alive the traditions of their ancestor by hosting numerous Germanfestivals until 1915 when all but one were canceled due to World War I disruptions. A group of five men - three Germans, two Italian Americans - organized themselves into a town petitioning for incorporation on November 11, 1916. This act marked what would be known as "the First Municipal Election" in Fairview Heights since all residents were not given voting rights until 1917 when they were made citizens through an act of the state legislature. On January 1, 1917 Fairview Heights became an unincorporated village under state jurisdiction with right to tax itself however no public services were provided until 1924 when school was added; then it grew rapidly thanks to annexation of neighboring communities (Rochester Park followed in 1926) before reaching its present size over 50% increase by 1940 primarily due to World War II suburban growth within DuPage County while also experiencing rapid demographic change with many Polish families moving into FairVIEW HEIGHTS during this time period making it one of only two Polish-American villages remaining on American soil at that time! On October 15th 1945 local kids playing near Post #10 found $5 worth of gold coins hidden among leaves along the riverbank just south of where Interstate 90 now crosses it creating what has been called "The Great Gold Thief" event still considered today one of Chicago's most famous tourist attractions! After years spent investigating every lead possible leading up to this discovery some teens even went so far asto build their ownGold Rush Museum/ Theme Park based around this find starting with a small room inside Post #10 where visitors can explore various exhibits about early 20th century gold mining experience including original artifacts! In 1976 fairview heights annexed much larger neighbor Rochester Park becoming perhaps one of history’s most comprehensive annexations with both cities working together towards common goals such as economic development while maintaining cultural Contrasts!!
