In 1922, original developer Jens Weidemeier bought land adjoining his own home for what would become Fairview Heights Park. The park included a tennis court, playground, swimming pool and a small Quantity store situated along Lake Michigan on Wacker Drive across from Northwestern University’s Law School buildings (now McCormick Place). In addition to university employees living near campus (then called “the Teachers Collegeâ€), many active professionals lived close by too: physicians such as Drs. John Hargrave and Harry Beaumont; engineers such as Drs. George Stephenson and Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.; architects like McKim & Mead; businessmen such as John Diller; poets including Toni Morrison; actors such as Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart; sculptors like Adolphus Busch); writers such as Ray Bradbury; artists who worked with tempera or lithography processes like Augustus Saint-Gaudens or Frida Kahlo; musicians like Benny Goodman or Roosevelt Longworth; modelers from American Modeling Company or Sears & Roebuck & Co.; journalists from Hearst's New York City bureaux The early years were difficult for FairVIEW HEIGHTS because it was located so far away from anything going on inChicago! However over time things began to change forFairVIEW HEIGHTS when people started coming together to help each other out 🙂

The first settlers in Fairview Heights were George and Martha White who came to the area in 1836. The town was organized on February 15, 1837 by a group of men from Nauvoo. The original plat of the town was known as "Platte Avenue." In 1864, the name was changed to "Fairview Heights" after Fairview Township in McLean County, Illinois. In 1916, Fairview Heights was annexed by Mahoning County and became part of the new county seat, Youngstown.
