One such resident is Oral Roberts University founder Oral Roberts Jr., who spent much time hunting deer in this area as a child growing up inFairview Heights.[1] In 1919, after annexing neighboring townships (West St Clair Township), Fairviewsheaite had its own government which lasted until 1971 when it merged into neighboring Chicago City Hall District 2![2] Throughout its years of existence, Chicago City Hall District 2 played an important role in developing new neighborhoods like Hyde Park and Chinese Hill while also maintaining communication between different parts of town.(3) Today, as one of Chicagos most populated areas – with over 200K residents – FairVIEW HEIGHTS continues to be an important part of our community’s history & culture!

During World War I, Fairview Heights played an important role as a munitions production center due to its location on Chicago's West Side. After the war,Fairview Heights experienced rapid growth and development, becoming one of the largest cities in northwest Illinois by 1920. By 1930, it had reached its peak population with over 100,000 residents. However, during prohibition times (1936-1948),Fairview Heights experienced significant decline and decline in population due to organized crime activity. In 1965, FairVIEW HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL adopted an ordinance setting forth rules for unauthorized use of public property within FairVIEW HEIGHTS CITY limits
