Northwestern enlarged its campus beyond its original boundaries to include land north of State Streets to make way for more student housing and research labs; today’s Loop area was planned by professor Nicholas Pullenbeck back when it only included storybook streets like Michigan Avenue The Wilson Administration began planning for downtownChicago while President Woodrow Wilson was still living in Washington D C; this included such iconic features as the Lincoln Tower and Wacker Drive This Plan called for a large complex bounded by La Salle Street on the east side (then along Dearborn Street), Michigan Avenue on the west side (then along State Street), Navy Pier on Lake Shore Drive (then along Milwaukee Road),Loop areas between these two points – now known collectively as “Downtown” – would house every kind of business except churches and government buildings . It took until 1915 before construction started on what is currently Downtown Evanston; during that time much smaller parts OF Downtown were built up around Navy Pier/Lake Shore Drive (known today as South Side) or around Wacker Drive/La Salle Street
