Edwardsville, Illinois is a small town located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 1,813 at the 2000 census. Edwardsville is home to The Edwards Coffee Company and The Wilson Coffee Company. These two coffee companies are considered to be some of the best in the country. The first coffee company in Edwardsville was founded by George Aiken in 1872. Aiken started out as a grocery store and sold coffee beans from his truck. In 1875, he opened a roastery and began manufacturing coffee beans himself. In 1908, George Aiken's son, Harry W., took over the business and continued their father's tradition of high-quality coffee production. Today, Edwardsville's two coffee companies continue to produce world-class quality coffees for consumers all over the world. They offer a variety of roasted beans that are all certified organic and fair trade certified. Their cups are also made from 100% recycled materials.

Edwardsville is one of the oldest communities in Illinois. It was founded by General James Edwards in 1837. The community was named for General Edwards, who had served in the Mexican-American War and then in the Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The first post office was established here in 1841. In 1851, the town voted to become a city and it did so on December 1, 1851.

In addition to these schools, there are three churches: First Baptist Church of Edwardsville, First Methodist Church of Edwardsville, and Congregationalist church of Antioch Catholic Parish which serve the town's residents. Edwardsvillians have been known for their participatory democracy since when it has been practiced throughout America's history by grassroots movements such as local assemblies or bees Local elections were held every two years until 1996 when they were replaced with a “ Town Council” system because many citizens did not feel that their voice could be heard on the Town Council level
Coffee has been around for centuries, and it is no secret that some of the best coffee beans come from ancient civilizations. In fact, there are even reports of coffee trees reaching back to 7000 BC. The first mention of coffee in writing was in a Cairo document from 997 AD. Coffee was mentioned again in a Persian treaty from 1037 AD. By the 16th century, coffee had spread throughout much of Europe and the Mediterranean. And by the 18th century, people were consuming more than three times as much coffee as they did tea! The first espresso machine was invented in 1795 by Angelo nodi at an Italian café. In 1812, Giovanni Battista Brescia developed the first percolator espresso machine which allowed for more consistent flavor and consistency when making espresso drinks. By 1830, machines were being made which could make cappuccinos, lattes, macchiatos and other types of coffee drinks (although these only became popular after 1875). One of the most significant moments in coffee history came with World War II when many countries began importing beans to help replace their own finite resources that were being destroyed by war. This led to increased production and distribution capabilities for cafés all over the world – including America where Starbucks began operations in 1971!

Edwardsville was founded on December 7, 1868 by abolitionist and congressman John P. Edwards and his wife Lucy Bemis Edwards. It became a city on November 3, 1893. The Edwardsville Arsenal was an important center for arms production during the American Civil War and later during World War II. The arsenal produced anti-aircraft artillery, tanks, rifles and other combat equipment for the Union and Confederate armies respectively. In addition to its weapons output, the arsenal also manufactured clothing for soldiers and their families as well as bricks for building purposes. Today, much of what used to be done at the Arsenal has been replaced by modern technology with some exception including manufacturing of cannons still taking place today at the plant however it is closed down completely most weeks due to lack of funding from state government
Edwardsville was founded in 1836 by Captain James Edwards and his wife Eliza. The town grew quickly, and by 1841 it had a population of over 100 people. The first post office was established in 1846, and the first church was built in 1847. In 1861, Edwardsville became a city and the first mayor was named John Ritchie. The city annexed other towns in 1961, including Arlington Heights and Naperville. In 1966, Edwardsville became a state-level community with its own government.
