The history of coffee in East Peoria, Illinois goes back to the early 1800s. The first recorded coffee house in this town was the Star-Keeper Tavern, which opened its doors in 1829. It is interesting to note that this establishment was not the only one to provide quality coffee. In 1837, a Coffee House and Shop was opened by James W. Swanton at 5th and Ash streets. This business served as a social and dining spot for locals and visitors alike. Over time, other businesses followed suit and soon there were several reputable coffeehouses operating within walking distance of each other. One of the most notable landmarks associated with East Peoria’s coffee Scene was the Federal Building, which housed the first commercial roaster in Illinois (and still does). This business started out as a small grocery store run by John Hirschfeld and his wife Sarah Jane in 1868. The Prima Coffee Company purchased this property from Hirschfeld in 1889 and began manufacturing their famous Columbian beans here. By 1915, they had installed a large roasting plant on site that yielded some of America’s best-quality coffees! As time went on, more people began moving into East Peoria; consequently, the number of coffee houses decreased slightly but their quality didn’t stop improving overall. Today there areseveral well-known cafes inside or near downtown Peoria – all providing beautiful internationally sourced coffees every day!

East Peoria, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,561 as of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Cook County and one of the largest in the Chicago metropolitan area after Chicago. East Peoria is located on Lake Michigan between downtown Chicago and the University ofChicago campus to the south and west, and the former industrial cities of Rockford to the north and northwest. The first mention of what is now East Peoria was by French traders sailing upriver from Green Bay in 1671. In 1803, James K. Polk founded Independence Township (named for him), which extended into what is now east Peoria along with parts of west suburban Kane County. The City of East Peoria was incorporated on December 3, 1847 at a meeting held at Second Congregational Church on Ottawa Street near Erie Boulevard. The first mayor was John Smedley (1848-51). On November 6, 1860, at a meeting called to consider annexation by Chicago due to increasing population density within then- southwest Cook County,[2] residents voted 54% against annexing eastPeorià’s land to that city,[3] but did so anyway under pressure from Mayor George Pullman because he wanted more businesses close to his home on State Street in downtown Chicago.[4] In 1886 when Cook County became self-governing under Republican Govt., Judge Lorenzo Sawyer appointed an official named Augustus Biddle as its first mayor with responsibility for all aspects connected with municipal government except taxation; this office continued until 1903 when it was abolished following referendum by voters who supported Prohibition amendment that year[5]). With increased immigration during prohibition years and consequent growth in eastPeorià’s working class citizens unable or unwilling to pay high taxes required for enforcement thereof,[6], mayoral power gradually declined culminating with only three terms served by Edward Burke (1915-23) before being filled again through appointment by Governor Amos Tilton([7]); further appointments followed until 1952 when Richard J. Mather took office as Mayor effective January 1st[8]). As early as 1922 Mather had begun planning a major redevelopment project dubbed “Meadowbrook Village” which would have involved moving much ofeastPeorià’s infrastructure—including its large fire stations—to newly constructed parkland southcentralwestofthecity; this plan never came to fruition but has been mentioned prominently decades later as part of alternative plans for eastPeorià's future development should zoning changes resulting from gentrification become available.[9][10][11][12][13] Despite these setbacks Mather remained determined not only to continue developing Meadowbrook Village but also improve public transportation options including construction of two new light rail lines running through town – one serving downtown where people could purchase tickets online before arrival while other terminating just outside town limits near Union Station – both systems opening up eastern neighborhoods hitherto off limits to most travelers.[14],[15],[16],[17] On July 14th 2009 President Barack Obama announced plans for $1 billion dollars worth of investments over ten years in East Peoria specifically aimed at job creation and economic development; these projects were later renamed "Obama Presidential Center".[18][19][20]. Work began soon afterward on site selected for the presidential center which included demolishing existing buildings adjacentTo village green while constructing five large new buildings providing 750 jobs directly associated with operations and support services associated with each building;[21][/22], this project received approval from local elected officials late last year after months long negotiations led by Mayor Richard Jåklund who noted that without such investment “much here will go away [and] our economy will be worse off than it already is”[23]. This marks an important victory for East Peorias Progressive Community Movement spearheaded by Mayor Richard Jåklund whose vision has guided development efforts over many years culminating today with final approval from county commissioners giving rise finally to permits allowing construction begin immediately upon completion of environmental review process expected no earlier than 2019/2020[24]; once complete construction begins community members will enjoy access direct highway access via I-94 Exit 163 approximately 12 miles north centralwestoftown & ample parking resources making it easy & affordable alike for workers & visitors alike

However, there are some notable differences between historical and modern coffees. The first true espresso was made in Rome in 1612 by Angelo Francesco Boccaccio. It was a blend of ground beans from two other Italian towns-Bologna and Reggio Calabria-and was brewed with hot water and milk. This type of coffee became popular throughout Europe, but it wasn't until the 18th century that coffee began to be exported to countries such as America. The first records of espresso being served in American cafes date back to 1847 when John Denny served it at his Coffee House on Market Street in San Francisco. In 1851, printer Wm C. Fenton started printing the San Francisco Examiner which also served espresso drinks. In 1862, Ezra Pound published his poem "Espresso" which featured an espresso drink called the "Butterfly." Throughout its history, espresso has been variously referred to as "the morning cup," "the noon cup," or simply "coffee." The term 'espresso' is taken from the Italian word for 'exchange.' This because when one buys coffee beans they must trade their product for goods or services (euphemistically called 'favors') according to social conventions at that time. Consequently, any given café may have several different names for their espresso drinks depending on who is working behind the bar at the time (i.e., Buddy). Finally, although most people believe that espresso originated in Italy, it actually originated with Greece where monks would make tea from roasted grains then filter it through a cloth before drinking it cold or over ice

The city of East Peoria was founded by the Illinois Company in 1837. The company built a small town on the east bank of the Chicago River, and named it East Peoria after its location. In 1847, the company merged with other companies to form the Illinois Central Railroad. The railroad became part of the Union Pacific Railway in 1888. In 1912, East Peoria was incorporated as a city.
