The first coffee beans were roasted in the early 1800s in a small town called East Moline, Illinois. The beans were ground and brewed by farmers who grew coffee on their properties. In the 1920s, two brothers named Harry and Joe started a small grocery store in East Moline. They sold coffee and other products from their store until they closed in the 1970s. Today, three sisters operate the Frank's Coffee & Tea shop across the street from Harry and Joe's store. The sisters are descendants of the original roasters of coffee in East Moline.
East Moline, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 44,663 at the 2010 census, making it the fifth-largest city in Illinois. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is located on the Mississippi River near downtown Chicago. The first European settlement in what would become East Moline was by French settlers in 1779 as Pointe aux Meadows. The town site was chosen because it had good soil and could support a healthy crop due to its latitude and longitude location on the border of both Michigan and Wisconsin. In 1812, a group of English farmers led by John Stephenson established Stephenson's Mills which became one of America's leading cotton mills. In 1831, East Moline became an independent village when all but one block of its land was annexed by Chicago from Rockford Township for $500 per acre (0.4 km²). In 1836, East Moline incorporated as a city under the name "Moline." The name change reflected Moline's growing importance as an agricultural center with many large farms producing hay, oats, cornmeal and other crops that were shipped downriver to Chicago for export. The city grew rapidly during the mid-19th century thanks to waves of immigrants - Poles, Italians, Germans and Irish - who came to work in mills, factories or agriculture across Northwestern Indiana and Wisconsin before reachingChicago proper through railroads in the late 19th century. During World War II much activity took place within Moline including production of munitions; however no Americans died directly from bombing raids or bombings themselves although some people were injured or lost their homes Due to this there has been recent progress made towards rebuilding destroyed areas such as brickyards demolished during bombing raids over 25 years ago have now been rebuilt with new fencing; housing developments have also sprung up around these brickyards providing jobs for local residents while also preserving history

In that year, John Lennon was born in East Moline and his family moved there when he was two years old. The town became noted for its maize products which were exported to Europe. Today, many businesses in East Moline are based on agriculture such as corn production, soybean production, and poultry farming. One of the first companies established in East Moline was the First National Bank which opened its doors on December 20th, 1837. At that time, it was one of the few banks operating withinChicago's city limits. For many years after that date, First National played an important role in economic development in EasternMoline and beyond- serving as a financial center for local farmers and businesses as well as providing opportunities for young people to get their start in life. In 1954-55 First National merged with J P Morgan & Co., becoming one of America's largest banking institutions by assets under management (AUM). Over time however First National lost much of its business due to deregulation of banking practices throughout America while also experiencing a number of internal shakeups which led to two executive retirements within five years-one during President Reagan's administration and one during George Bush Sr.'s presidency (Ferguson 1998). The loss of some business didn't stop American Express from opening up shop here either; starting out as a check cashing company before evolving into what we know today as American Express Bank USA Incorporated (AEX). Eventually AEX grew into one of America's biggest banks with over $200 billion worth customer deposits at its disposal as early as 1984! In recent times there have been several extensions/developments made to nearby intersections including: Roosevelt Road/East Side Highway (ROSE) junction project; West Side Highway intersection project; North Side Highway intersection project; Interstate 90 interchange reconstruction project - all designed with public input and aimed at enhancing pedestrian accessability and gridlock mitigation along I-90 corridor
In 1819, the village of East Moline was founded by James K. Polk and his father, John K. Polk. The town was named for James K. Polk's uncle, Samuel P. Easton, who had purchased land in the area in 1815. The first post office was established in 1824, and the first store opened in 1830. In 1836, the town was incorporated as a Village under the name of East Moline. In 1850, President Buchanan designated East Moline as sites for two new military fortifications - Fort Armstrong and Fort Dearborn - which were completed in 1861 and 1862 respectively. These fortifications were designed to protect Chicago from possible attack by Confederate forces during the American Civil War. The village of East Moline experienced rapid growth following World War II due to its proximity toChicago and its role as an agricultural center for Chicago's metropolitan area. In 1961, it became part of Cook County when Illinois joined the United States Union; this made it one ofthe last major American cities to become part of a county government statewide. Today, East Moline is home to several large employers including Rockford Medical Center (RMC), Hennepin County Government Services (HCS), Menard Field Airport (MKE),andDuPont State Park ().
