The history of the East Moline Shooter's Club can be traced back to 1927 when three friends, Harry, Ed and Al, decided to start a club to shoot baskets in their backyard. The first meeting was held on October 9th and the club was called "The Eastern Illinois Shooting Association." From its inception until today, the East Moline Shooter's Club has welcomed shooters from all over the Midwest for fun and education. East Moline, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 63,711 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Hancock County and one of the largest cities in Butler County. East Moline is located on the east bank of the Chicago River, bordered by Cook County to the south and west, Kane County to the north and northwest, and DuPage County to the east. The first Europeans to visit what is now East Moline were French traders who established a fur-trading post there in 1763. The town's namesake comes from early residents: Augustus Mille (1762–1836), an American Revolutionary War general who fought at Saratoga; his son John Milton Mille (1807–1876), who became president of Northwestern University; and their friend Isaac Asimov (1898–1982). In 1868, East Moline's incorporation as a city made it one of two cities born from merger settlements along Chicago's water routes – along with Park Ridge – that year. In 1870, during its heyday as an agricultural center with 620 acres (240 hectares) of land irrigated by Canisteo Creek, East Moline had a population of 710 people; today it has 534,684 inhabitants according to 2016 estimates. East Moline is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 15,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and had a population of over 62 million as of 2017. The first European to visit what is now East Moline was French Captain Jean-Baptiste La Salle on his famous 1718 voyage across the Great Lakes. He sighted what he thought were two small villages but upon further exploration discovered that these were actually two towns—Moline and Joliet—built by early America pioneers in what is now eastern Cook County. In 1803, when Jackson became President of the United States, he issued an Executive Order creating the Townships of East Moline and West Moline in Kane County. As developers platted and farm land in this area, they named their towns after American presidents and other dignitaries who had helped improve or promote central Illinois settlements during its earliest years. In 1835, Hennepin Township was organized from parts of East Moline, West Moline and Kankakee Townships; it included much of what is now Cook County today along with a small amount of present-day Northwestern Indiana Territory. The township contained 6 villages: Clinton (now Homer), Des Plaines (now Glen Ellyn), Elmhurst (now Lombard), Groveland (now Rockford), Lansing (now Lincoln Park), Normal (now Naperville) and Sandwich (now Elgin). By 1850 there were 21 villages in Hennepin Township! In 1857–58 new townships were organized into Will County: Beloit, Decatur Heights/Winchester Heights/Oak Forest/Prairie View Hills, Highland Park/Lakeview Terrace/Brookfield Hills/Sarasota Springs/Hollywood Hills etc., each containing 10 villages spread over large areas including all or most of present-day Cook County east to west as well as north to south within Will Counties boundaries. This created an immense suburban sprawl across much rural territory outside the city limits which continues to this day….. As late as 1930 less than one percent of East Moline’s population lived within 5 miles [8 km] of any major city center! Today more than 60% – nearly all – reside within 3 miles [5 km] or less….The Community Development Block Grant program has been instrumental in helping make East Moline one OF THE most diverse communities in Illinois….the village formulates community plans that are then executed through elected officials who work closely with city hall staff toward achieving common goals….Eastmolettes have always been entrepreneurial spirit people who take risks; they know how to get things done quickly without sacrificing quality….Today’s entrepreneurs are some of Chicago’s best educated young adults…..EAST MILLETIRE PROVINCE HISTORY
