East Moline, Illinois is a city in the United States. The population was 25,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County. East Moline is located on the border of Cook and DuPage counties. The town was founded in 1837 by George Rogers Clark as Rogersville. It became an incorporated town in 1857 and then a city in 1903. The current name comes from its location on a bend in the Mississippi River where two forks of that stream join together. The first people to live here were Emigrant Indians who came overland from Canada in 1763, and they continued to come until about 1800 when they stopped coming altogether because of difficulties with Native Americans. They had some timber resources but no other land so they turned their attention to farming which they did well for many years until white settlement began hereabouts around 1815-16 when Major John Smith led his party across what is now Illinois into this area specifically for fur trading purposes, doubtless stimulated by new discoveries being made along the upper MISSISSIPPI VALLEY by his rival Frenchman Chouteau (1739-1812). In later years another factor may have been Indian removal policies implemented by American Indians raiding nearby settler camps for captives taken during raids; these practices were generally discontinued after 1840 although occasional cases still occur today In 1837 east moline was founded when George Rogers Clark set out from Independence westward on foot with his family

However, during the 1960s and 1970s,EastMoline's economy crashed as a result of population growth in nearby cities such as Chicago and Milwaukee. Today, East Moline is home to fewer than 1,000 residents and its economy is much smaller still than it once was. However, through its history and current status as a small town*, EastMoline has faced many challenges both good AND bad* which have made it one of America's most interesting towns*. First off*,EastMoline's rich history can be found all throughout its neighborhoods*; from downtown to rural areas*. Even today there are numerous businesses that date back to before 1836*! In fact*, several streets in downtown *still bearCaptain Ames' name*! One significant event that took place in EastMolinetoday is when Barack Obama was born on August 4th neigborhood street called "Nathaniel Ames" (now part of Clinton Street). This event helped spur development in this area- many homes were built on this block after Mr. Obama's birth.* Another important event happened when President John F Kennedy died at age 44 near where he had been born years earlier just minutes away from his childhood home on "Nathaniel Ames". This location now houses an American Presidential Library *and also provides excellent views of the cityscape from atop it*. The city of East Moline, Illinois was founded in 1836 by James K. Polk and John J. Pershing as a military post on the Mississippi River. The area now known as East Moline was then part of Des Moines County, Iowa. In 1853, the United States Congress authorized the erection of an Arsenal at east Moline to be used for manufacturing munitions and other products for defense against Indian attacks. The city became a stop on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1868, and soon developed into a major industrial center with heavy production of munitions, paper products, automobiles, and other goods. In 1916, East Moline became one of the thirty-eight cities incorporated by Illinois as a result of the Statehood Act of 1917. The city's population grew rapidly during World War I due to its significance as a manufacturing center for munitions and other products that were needed by both sides in the war effort. After World War I ended, however,East Moline's economy began to decline because many industries have closed down in times of recession. In 1930, East Moline had 2,043 residents; by 1960 it had only 330 residents remaining
