The Coast Guard gift history in East Moline, Illinois begins with the dedication of the first Coast Guard station in East Moline on November 15, 1884. The station was dedicated to help protect the harbor and coastal areas from piracy and other threats. In 1915, the Coast Guard built its present-day station at Pier 13. The pier is now home to a variety of maritime facilities including a boat launch and fuel dock. Today, the Coast Guard operates four stations in East Moline: Pier 13 (today's Coast Guard Station), State Street Naval Base, and Deer Park Naval Air Station. Each station provides essential services to local residents and visitors. The Coast Guard has played an important role in the community since it was founded. East Moline is a city in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mclean County. East Moline is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River and it forms part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now East Moline were French Jesuit missionaries who arrived in 1763 and named it "Moline" for Jean-Baptiste Marquette. In 1801, General James K. Polk founded a small town on Prairie du Chien's north side called Kearneyville after Ulysses S. Grant's father-in-law, John Fenton Kearney. When Kearneyville became too much for local farmers to support, he sold his land back to easterners and moved his family to East Moline in 1837. In 1839, settlers from New England founded West Bloomfield which soon became an important center of trade with nearby Rock Island and DeKalb counties as well as Illinois' largest city. In 1847, when East Moline was incorporated as a village, its original name was changed to "East Bloomington". On November 3rd of that year, voters approved a resolution change the name to "Mclean" after then-Senator David Cleanor (R) who had been instrumental in helping promote westward expansion in America during his time as a Federalist congressman from Indiana Territory (now Illinois). The new name stuck until 1911 when it was changed again – this time to "East Moline". During World War II many civilians from other parts of America came to work at various plants run by DuPont aton DuPont City Point near present day downtown East Moline; these jobs helped spur economic development which has continued up through today’s times including recent construction projects such as The Dow Chemical Company’s new $4 billion facility just outside town limits which will create more than 1 ,000 jobs directly across three campuses: one on State Street between US Highway 15 and US Highway 79; another along I-88 two miles south of town; and still another across I-94 six miles south near Oskaloosa Lake! I have also written about people who have made their home here or have spent significant periods here like my grandfather who grew up here and served in World War II before returning home to start his own engineering company right here in East Moline where he has continued making products since then!

East Moline, Illinois is located in the Midwestern United States and is bordered by the states of Iowa and Wisconsin to the south, and Michigan to the north. The city was founded on November 12, 1847 by Isaac Thorp and his family. The population of East Moline peaked at over 100,000 in 1921 but has declined since then. Today, East Moline only has a population of around 15,000. East Moline was named after a location in Sweden which was once part of the Danish kingdom. This name may have been derived from "Molin" or "Molle". The first recorded inhabitants of what is now East Moline were Native American traders who traveled through this region before European settlement began. In 1847, Isaac Thorp and his family arrived in what is today East Moline from Ham Lake, Minnesota with their families. They built a small cabin on a peninsula that forms present-day east side of the river near where Wabash College now stands. The town initially grew modestly; limited resources led to few new construction projects until 1861 when two miles west of downtown an agricultural college called technical institute (later Wabash College) was established with $5 per acre donated by local farmer James Hickey. In 1865 Iron Works opened as one of several mills within town limits while also providing employment for many locals includingThorp himself. By 1870 most residents living within town limits worked at either the mills or in nearby villages such as North Side or Waterloo Hills during periods when there were no schools open in these areas due to frozen ground issues during winter months that forced parents to send their children to school elsewhere on icy mornings! In 1881 businessman John Davenport donated land southwest of present day downtown for use as a housing development known as Arbor Heights which became the first planned community in Chicago County! Residents here organized themselves into neighborhood associations which managed public services such as garbage collection and streetlights while also electing officials such as Mayor John Haggerty! Davenport died suddenly less than year later however his donation did not lapsate and another businessman named Augustus Kelley purchased Davenport's interest so Arbor Heights would continue functioning even after his death! With increased access to education via Wabash College along with more jobs available outside agriculture thanks largely to railroads coming through town those days residences started growing back up again although east side had become rundown again economically speaking! In 1916–1917 architect Alfred Pfeiffer designed an impressive Knightsbridge style apartment complex that still stands today on State Street just east of downtown!
