In the 1970s, Tomás Ortiz opened his own roastery in the same building that currently houses Levy's Coffee House & Café. Ortiz continued to run the business until his death in 2002. Over time, many other talented individuals have worked at Levy's Coffee House & Cafe - including Dick Schultz (founder of Comcast), Bob Dylan (actor/ comedian), Charlene Higginbotham (writer/director), Jay Leno (comedian/ TV host), Meryl Streep ( actress),and U2 frontman Bono. Downers Grove, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 101,913 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Chicago by population and the fifth-largest city in Illinois. With a metropolitan area of 2 million people, Downers Grove is also one of the most populous cities in North America. The first Europeans to visit what is now Downers Grove were explorers traveling through what is today Michigan Territory on their way to find a better route to California. They named their new settlement after George Downing, an Englishman who had been living near Detroit at the time. When they arrived there, he had already built a house on the site which he used as his headquarters for several years until he moved south to found his own town downriver (present day Warren). Downers Grove's history goes back even further than that - it was founded as part of Davenport Township on November 1st 1834 by Purcell and Haggerty as part of an effort to provide widows with landed property along the Chicago River during hard times following the Great Western War. The township grew rapidly and soon included all of present-day Cook County including parts of Aurora and Hyde Park. In 1847 it became one of twenty-six townships created under state law following its creation from lands taken from neighboring municipalities during authorized annexation proceedings; this made it one of only two municipalities in Cook County not annexed by Chicago proper between 1847 and 1893 (the other being Evanston). In 1865 Downers Grove merged with nearby Burlington to form another giant municipality known as Lake View Corporation (later called Irvington). It remained an autonomous entity until 1955 when it amalgamated once again with Burlington – this time becoming part of Chicago’s first suburban district known as “the Far South Side” or “Uptown” – creating what we know today as Downers Grove Village. However despite its significant wealth disparities at that time many residents still labored daily within rigorous local economies based upon agriculture or manufacturing sectors such as those aforementioned while enjoying access unique public amenities like ice rinks rink hockey fields tennis courts swimming pools etcetera which continue into our current era providing countless opportunities for economic development Between 1920-1950 enrollment rates for high school students increased from 45% graduation rate average for prewar period up 82%. Enrollmentrate peaked at over 800% during World War II due largely to increasing needs resulting from munitions production plants set up throughout Midwest region

Downers Grove is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Downers Grove is one of the most affluent communities in Illinois and has been home to some of the wealthiest men and women in America. The community was formally founded on October 1, 1855 by Elisha Gray and others as a small agricultural village named Downers Grove Heights after Dutch fur trader Hendrick Aernout Downer who had settled there in 1795. The name "Downers Grove" referred to a distance downriver from where the original village was located (now known as Elmhurst). The Village of Downers Grove Heights was incorporated on February 24, 1892 under state law because it appeared that only villages could be formed within Cook County during its first year of existence. On November 5, 1907, it became an independent city under state law due to merging with two other nearby villages: Northbrook and South Elgin. In 1912, Mayor John Daley reorganized city government into wards which made political sense given his goal for centralized government control over all public services within the city limits. On December 3rd, 1922 – four years after incorporation – Upgrades Incorporated merged into DownersGrove Township so that all businesses with more than fifty employees were within township boundaries instead of being registered separately with each individual municipality or village; this eliminated competition between municipalities for business growth and allowed for better coordination between municipal governments when needed but also helped reduce costs associated with having separate administrations for various types of businesses crossing town lines. On July 1st 1965 – less than three years after becoming an independent city – DownersGrove became one of twenty-six townships in Cook County which were created pursuant to its merger into Township #1 (the predecessor to Cook County).
