The Dolton Air Force Base is a major United States military installation located in the town of Dolton, Illinois. The base was established in World War II and became part of the United States Air Force after the war. It has been active since 1948 and currently employs over 36,000 people. And finally, it provides consulting services to service members who may need help understanding how USAF organizations work or applying for new assignments. Overall, AFCOM represents an important link between USAF members on active duty and their commanders back home. It helps keep everyone organized and synchronized while performing their duties – whether those tasks include flying combat aircraft or providing logistical assistance during peacetime events.

Dolton, Illinois is a small town located in west central Illinois. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Dolton is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was organized in 1836 and named for George Dolton, an early settler. It grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s when new land was developed along the Fox River. Dolton became a thriving community with a cattle and horse market, cotton gin, school and grocery stores, and A&P department store. In 1852, Dolton had its first post office and saw growth as a railroad center due to its location on the Rock Island Railroad. By 1870, Dolton had become one of the most important farming communities in west central Illinois. During prohibition times in America, Dolton became known as "the dry town". However, by 1933 it had reverted back to its pre- Prohibition era prosperity thanks to heavy industry that included meatpacking plants and other manufacturing businesses. In recent years there has been significant development within the local economy including numerous restaurants and bars; new housing developments; and additions to the city's cultural attractions such as The Illinois Theatre Company (TICA) which opened in 2006 and houses several theaters throughout Chicagoland including one dedicated to Broadway plays. Dolton is located at (41°53′08″N 88°39′24″W). According to the 2010 census,[2] it has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water.[3] As of 2016[4], no public schools serve DulTON residents although private schools offer instruction through village villages adjacent to DulTON Village Hall. There are also three churches within walking distance: First Presbyterian Church (Church Street), United Methodist Church (Church Avenue), African American Pentecostal church (Old Bridge Road). All three churches offer Sunday morning services free of charge for anyone living or working within DulTON boundaries who can attend them without consequence or injury from traffic or weather conditions on their way home from work/school

Dolton was a small town in the Will County neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by George Dolton and his siblings on the remains of an original gristmill that had been destroyed in a fire in 1837. The mill operated until 1853, when it burned down. After the mill's destruction, Dolton became an agricultural village with a few stores and a school. In 1865, Dolton merged with nearby Seymour to form the city of Joliet. The city passed its incorporation ordinance on November 3, 1870, becoming one of the first cities in Illinois to do so. Dolton experienced some growth during its early years; by 1880 it had five businesses and over 100 residents. However, population decline began to occur after World War II due to increased industry and suburban development around Joliet. By 1970 Dolton had only 6 businesses and 200 residents remaining. Today there is no physical evidence remaining from Dolton's past which makes it difficult to determine exactly when or how itstown ceased being inhabited; however, most believe that this occurred following annexation into Joliet by the City of Chicago in 1973.
Dolton was founded in 1810 by the Potawatomi Indians. The town grew up around a small creek that emptied into the Mississippi River. In 1835, Dolton became a county seat of Cook County. The population of Dolton increased rapidly during the 19th century, due to its location on the main river route and its access to goods and transportation. In 1871, Dolton became a city and experienced rapid growth due to its importance as an agricultural center. By 1945, the city had reached its peak population size with over 100,000 residents. However, because of economic decline and urban sprawl, Dolton's population has decreased since then.
