Fallon was stationed at Forward Operating Base Chapman, and he noticed that many of his comrades were struggling to drink adequate amounts of coffee during their patrols. He decided to create a mix that would provide soldiers with the energy they needed while fighting off enemy forces. Fallon's original Tactical Coffee recipe featured roasted Arabica beans from Ethiopia, Nicaragua, and Colombia. It was hand-selected for its smooth flavor and high caffeine content. In 1867, a group of men from Peoria started a small coffee house called The Eagle and Anchor. This business was the first in Des Plaines and it quickly became well-known for its quality beans and delicious drinks. In 1896, another group of men from Peoria started The Grapeseed Club. This business served coffee until 1926. Over time, other businesses began to open up in Des Plaines and each person who opened their own shop brought their own unique flavor to the city's coffee scene. Des Plaines, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is one of the most affluent communities in Illinois. The first permanent settler in what is now Des Plaines was George Washington Carver who arrived there in 1847. The name "Des Plaines" comes from a French phrase meaning "fields without trees." A post office was established at Des Plaines in 1851, and by 1860 it had developed into a small community with a school and store. In 1871 the town became an incorporated village with a mayor and 15 residents. By 1880 it had grown to over 100 residents. In 1902, Des Plaines annexed rural land to its east side giving its current size of . This annexation also made it one of only two townships (the other being Elmhurst) in Cook County that were not divided into villages or towns based on population growth alone; the other being Mount Prospect. In 1920, Des Plaine voters approved an ordinance establishing public schools within their limits as well as providing for free tuition for high school students at four private colleges within 50 miles (80 km). These institutions would later become known as Prairie View A&M University and Northwestern University - both now part of the University of Chicago System - while also creating a public-private partnership which would create Cook County's first hospital (Cook County Hospital). In 1927 President Calvin Coolidge visited Des Plaines for three days on his way to visit Harlan Mills mills in Indiana; during this time he toured several local businesses including Hope Millinery & Dye Works where he observed women working with woolen thread by hand from early morning until late afternoon using large looms operated by men only because no power looms were available then or ever would be because they were replaced by electric looms after his visit. He also observed local farmers harvesting corn on their own farms while children played nearby outside playing with hay bales or picking up stones to throw back at their fathers who waded into knee deep water retrieves trying to collect usable ears of corn high above the waves where they fished using spears driving huge schools colored fish out of their depths rather than selling them caught fish onto market day when prices could reach $1 per pound! Beneath these scenes stood Sears Roebuck & Co.'s massive new department store which opened its doors on November 12th 1928 adjacent to Cook County Hospital serving as both retail space for customers coming into addition to all types medical services offered therein such as childbirth services*, obstetrics*(*see below) surgery*, mental health*(*see below), dental care*, pharmacy*, food production*(*see below), *and research laboratories used by many universities across America such as Columbia University Medical School.*(*) Today Sears has been sold off piecemeal along with much of its former real estate holdings making Des Plaine one ofAmerica's poorest cities according to indices compiled by Demographia Incorporated.) In 1929 the citywide water system was completed providing drinking water for all households within city limits including those located outside central business districts like downtown Chicago; this system still provides service today despite recent improvements made to modernize sewer systems throughout CookCounty! City government continued operation essentially unchanged until 1971 when Mayor John Fitzgerald appointed Clarence King Director Of Planning And Development effective July 1st following which day comprehensive plans/programs/etc began being formulated which led directly to City Council elections taking place every five years beginning January 1st 1970 through December 31st each year culminating in February 3rd 2020 thus continuing uninterrupted until 2021 resulting in a total municipal term length of almost 64 years! In 1971, JLB merged with another Italian-owned coffee company, Lavazza, creating one of the largest coffee empires in world history. The name "Des Plaines" was given to the community by General George Washington in 1795 as part of a land grant to his son-in-law and future President James K. Polk. The original Des Plaines settlement was on the east side of present day Des Plaines Avenue west of present day State Street. In 1824, when Illinois became a state, Des Plaines became one of its first townships and remained so until it merged with other townships in 1847. The town center contains two shopping malls: One opened in 1980 and is anchored by Sears Holdings Corporation; and another opened in 1997 and is anchored by JCPenney Holding Company's Sears department store chain. Other major businesses located in or around Des Plaines include Ford Motor Company's Lincoln plants (the largest concentration outside Chicago), Wards Health & Beauty Stores Inc., Continental Airlines' former headquarters building near McCormick Place Airport, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.'s Northbrook office campus, Chevrolet dealership (now Open House Chevrolet) on Cass Avenue adjacent to North Park Zoo and Pritzker Pavilion at University Of Chicago Medical School.
