The store continued to be active until it burned down in 1923. In 1895-96 a group of men from Cary formed the “Cary Rifle Association” which still exists today! This group purchased the old Hargrave & Norris Rifle Shop building and operated it as their own retail arm from 1896-1923. They also published an annual journal called “The Rifle Journal” which remains current to this day! These gentlemen were responsible for developing many of today’s standards within gun culture including magazine feeding ability and trigger pulls! Additionally, they promoted NRA chapters throughout North Carolina at various locations! In 1922-23 they again remodeled their building into what is currently known as The Shooting Gallery at 5th Street South which continues to serve local shooters to this day! Today there are numerous businesses operating within just a few blocks of where John Hargrave & Isaac Norris founded their business back in 1855 - all contributing to one big reason why Cary has always been so successful with its gun industry: because everyone here knows each other intimately!

Cary, Illinois is a small town located in the far northwestern corner of the state of Illinois. It is bordered by Lake County to the north,west and south, and by Johnson County to the east. The population of Cary was 9,554 as of 2010. The first settlement in what is now Cary was made on July 24, 1847 when John Beasley and his brother James founded a log cabin on what is now State Route 52. In 1849, the town was platted and named after General William Tecumseh Sherman who had fought in the Mexican-American War. Sherman donated land for a courthouse and village square which were dedicated on November 15, 1851. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Confederate forces burned down Union munitions storage facilities at Mill Creek Plantation near present day Cary. This destroyed much of the local economy and led to heavy military occupation by Union forces until 1865 When Union troops left for home leave Cary reverted to Confederate control for three months before being recaptured by Union forces under General David Hunter. On December 1st 1865 Cary became part of new Missouri Territory following Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves in that territory including those living in Illinois. This event marked an important turning point in history as it demonstrated how little resistance slaveowners had when they learned their slaves were free; this change would culminate into two centuries of white supremacy throughout most of America until African Americans gained full civil rights in 1964. Cary experienced some growth during its time as part of Missouri Territory; Notable advances included completion of a railroad line through town in 1868 which helped increase trade with neighboring Johnson County and Iowa; construction began on a school building (now known as McCormick Middle School) around 1870 which served students from grades K-12 until 1925; initial efforts were made to establish civic organizations such as a library (1875), weekly market (1876), Masonic Lodge No 2 (1877)
Cary was founded in 1835 by Isaac Cary and his wife Hannah. The Carys were pioneers in the area and built a sawmill, gristmill, wagon factory, and other businesses. They also helped found the first public school in Illinois. In 1857, they bought the village of Cary from its founder, Samuel Nicholas. The town became an incorporated municipality in 1865. The population of Cary peaked at around 12,000 in the 1930s but has declined since then; it now stands at 602 people.
