Cahokia, Illinois is a small town in southern Illinois that was once the capital of the Mississippian culture. Cahokia was founded by the Ojibwe in c. 1700 and became an important trading post during the 18th century. The city declined after the American Revolution and eventually fell to Spanish rule in 1795. Despite this setback, Cahokia continued to be a center for Indian art and culture until 1836, when it was destroyed by fire. After its loss, Cahokia experienced a period of decline and obscurity before being reborn as an industrial center during World War II. In recent years, Cahokia has regained some of its former glory as an arts destination and cultural hubs for neighboring states. This paper will provide an overview of artisan coffee history in Cahokia, discuss why it is so important to the city, and describe some of the unique aspects of its coffee industry that have made it such a popular tourist destination.

Cahokia was founded in 1670 by the Potawatomi people. The town was originally called Kaskaskia, but it was renamed Cahokia because of its resemblance to the ancient city of Cæsarea (modern Aleppo,Syria). In 1812, Cahokia became a part of the United States and remained an American Indian Territory until 1847. It was then annexed by Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 4, 1847.
Cahokia was an early Mississippian culture village in what is now Illinois. Cahokia was abandoned around 1200 BC, and development at the site ceased until after AD 1000. Cahokia is a symbol of the Hopewell Tradition, which flourished in the Midwestern United States during the late Prehistoric period. The culture produced stone tools, pottery, and musical instruments. Cahokians were responsible for developing maize agriculture and may have also created a system of animal husbandry.
There is a long and rich history of coffee culture in America. Coffee was first cultivated in South America, where it was used to make churros (a type of pastry). In the 1700s, Dutch traders discovered Java and started trading coffee with India. They brought java beans back to Holland where they were developed into what we now know as espresso. The first Starbucks opened up in Seattle in 1976. In 1984, Dunkin’ Donuts introduced donuts that were served with coffee and cream. The popularity of these products created a demand for more unique coffees, which led to the development of roasts and cafes. Roasts are roasted by hand and are determined by their flavor profile; for example, a dark roast will have higher levels of caffeine than a light roast. Cafes also serve different types of drinks such as lattes, smoothies, iced teas, Frappuccinos, cappuccinos etc., which all add to the flavorsome experience at home!
Brewing coffee began in the late 16th century in Central America. Coffee beans were roasted and ground by people living near the Andes Mountains. The first espresso was made in 1776 by Luigi Peet at his coffee house, La Caffe delle Indie (The Indies Coffee House).
Cahokia was a major center of the Mississippian culture in the late-1st millennium BCE. Cahokia was abandoned around 1100 CE, but its remains have been excavated and studied since the 1800s. Cahokia is one of the most important archaeological sites in Illinois, and it has been cited as an example of how pre-Columbian cultures influenced later American Indian nations. The Mississippian culture was first developed in what is now southeastern Michigan and northeastern Ohio. At Cahokia, they built large mounds that were used for religious ceremonies and trade goods. They also constructed houses with stone walls and floors, which are some of the earliest examples of this type of architecture in North America. The Mississippians were a powerful group, and they expanded their territory to include parts of present-day Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. At Cahokia proper, the Mississippians erected massive wickerwork boats called pithouses that may have served as homes or meeting places for up to hundred people. They also built huge earthworks called dune fields that loomed over much of their territory. These works remain some of the most extensive prehistoric engineering feats in North America today. The development at Cahokia represents a major turning point for the Mississippian culture—it marked a shift from their earlier reliance on hunting and gathering to more complex economic systems based on tradeand agriculture. The collapse at Cahokia likely led to significant social changes among the local population. This change may have represented aSignificant departure from traditional ways of life for many Native Americans across North America during this time period—this suggests that there was something special about Cahokie that attracted these groups to its site。 In addition to its importance as an archaeological site supervisor
The Cahokia region was first settled by the Native Americans about 12,000 years ago. The region was home to a number of cultures including the Mississippian culture, which flourished from c. 1200-1600 AD. The Mississippian culture was characterized by their use of large earthworks called mounds, and their use of copper tools and jewelry. They also built tombs and other ceremonial structures. The area that is now Cahokia were originally part of the Shawnee Nation. In 1812, General James K. Polk signed the Treaty of Gadsden which gave American settlers in the area exclusive rights to purchase land in what is now Illinois and Indiana. The treaty allowed for white settlement within a certain radius of the Indian nations’ capital city of Washington D.C.. This area became known as East Stroudsburg Township, Pennsylvania after East Stroudsburg, PA became one of the areas American settlers took over from the Shawnee Nation in 1818 following their victory at Battle of Fallen Timbers. In 1836, General Anthony Wayne captured Mobile Bay from French forces during his Expedition against Canada and began construction on Fort Wayne which would become one of America's most important military installations during its early years as a nation . Aftermaths from this battle led to increased Native American trade with America through Mobile Bay , leading to more interaction between European traders and Native Americans . Additionally, fortifications were erected along both sides of Mobile Bay in an attempt to control access to this important waterway . When Indiana formed its statehood in 1848, East Stroudsburg Township passed into Ohio territory under Article V thereof “That all men who may desire or attack us shall be Enemies within our Borders……….and we will protect them accordingly” One year later (January 1st), 1850 – prior to becoming a state - East Stroudsburg Township reorganized as Cahokia Township under State law #8-2-10
