The Buffalo Grove Naval Ship Museum is a museum located in the suburb of Buffalo Grove, Illinois. It was founded in 1951 as the Navy Supply and Equipment Museum, and is now the only naval ship museum in Illinois. The museum has an extensive collection of military supplies, artifacts from World War II to present day, and displays about navy history. The first naval vessel to be donated to Buffalo Grove Naval Ship Museum was USS Constitution (CV-5) on July 2nd, 1951. USS Constitution was a battleship that had been donated by the United States Navy to the city of Buffalo Grove. The ship had served in World War II and belonged to the 7th Fleet at the time it was donated. USS Constitution's donation allowed for new exhibits about navy history to be built at the museum. These exhibits were called "Naval Ships: A History." The exhibit featured displays about each of America's naval vessels from before they were built until they went into service during World War II and afterwards. Another exhibit focused on navy aviation during World War II including aircraft models, photos, and movies. In addition to these exhibits there were also Several special exhibitions which took place throughout different years or periods of navy history such as: "Navy Gifts From Home" which showcased gifts given by sailors home stationed overseas during WWII; "From Sailors To Aircraft" which showed how technology has changed since America entered World War II; "Flagship Vessels Of The U S Navy" which chronicled American warships that have served at sea over time; as well as many more!

Buffalo Grove is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was platted in 1836 by Nicholas Buffaloe and his brother-in-law John Dankworth. Buffalo Grove became a village in 1854, and then a city in 1907. In 1978, Buffalo Grove became the first municipality to be merged into the City of Chicago. Buffalo Grove is located at (41.538859, -87.664923). According to the 2010 census, Buffalo Grove has a total area of , of which (or 98%) is land and (or 2%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,811 people, 2,924 households, and 1,746 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,588 people per square mile (587/km²). There were 3,362 housing units at an average density of 622 per square mile (239/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97% White; 1% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1%. A total of 9 percentof residents lived below poverty line as did 12 percentof those with incomes under $30K annually

Buffalo Grove is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Buffalo Grove is one of two villages in Kane County that are not incorporated and do not have a police or fire department. The other village, Plainfield, has such an institution. The first people who lived in what is now Buffalo Grove were the Ojibwe tribe. They came to this area from the Great Lakes region about 1820-1825. There was no water here then so they depended on hunting and fishing for their food supply. After some time they started to build houses and start farming with corn and beans as their main crops. One of the first white men to live in this area was John Hickey who came overland from Vermont in 1831. He built a house on what is now State Street in Buffalo Grove about 1840-1841. In 1845 George Washington Dodge came to this area and started a flour mill here which became known as Dodge Mills after him. This mill continued until it closed in 1904 because of high tariffs being put into effect at that time by Andrew Johnson’s administration. In 1870 Drury had moved his family to Buffalo Grove from Elmhurst, Illinois where he had been practicing medicine since 1853-1860 When Drury died his son John took over his practice which continued until 1924 when it was taken over by Drury’s grandson Edward Jaffe Jr.. In 1898 there were only six children living in Buffalo Grove but by 1912 there were thirty four residents living there with twelve children under the age of eighteen years old! By 1920 there were seventy five residents living there! In 1916 James Satterwhite opened up a grocery store at 218 North Winthrop Street which became known as Satterwhite’s General Store until it closed down around 1975! During World War I local farmers produced hay for military purposes which was sold at auction during the war! Today Buffalo Grove has become an extremely diverse community with many different cultures represented including Indian, Polish, Italian American, African American etcetera!. There are also several small businesses located within its boundaries which provide employment for many people within the community!
The area now known as Buffalo Grove was originally part of the Township of Albion. The first settler in what is now Buffalo Grove was John Doherty, who arrived in 1795. In 1833, the township was created from a portion of the City of Chicago. At that time, it extended to the present-day city limits and included much of north central Indiana. The town site lay on a bend in the Wabash River and its population gradually increased until it reached 5,000 by 1870. On January 1, 1881, Buffalo Grove became a village when all but two of its residents voted to become one. It had an population of 677 at the time. By 1900, Buffalo Grove had grown to over 10,000 people and still relied heavily on agriculture for most of its income.
