Buffalo Grove is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 8,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Buffalo Grove has been inhabited for over 100 years and its first coffeehouses opened in 1875. In 1898, Buffalo Grove's first grocery store, Wigglesworth's Drug Store, opened with a shop that sold only coffee and newspapers. From there, the town quickly grew into an espresso culture center with over twenty-five cafes by 1933. The early Italian immigrants who founded Buffalo Grove were passionate about their coffee beans and roasted them themselves on their family farmstead until they could sell their product to local businesses and consumers. This unique process of roasting and marketing your own beans helped make Buffalo Grove one of the most caffeinated towns in North America by the late 1800s. A number of factors contributed to this trend: 1) The railroad arrived in Buffalo Grove in 1881 and made it easier for residents to get around; 2) Some Italians began opening small shops that sold café products such as milk chocolate bars or olive oil; 3) Colorado Springs became known as "the Mecca of Coffee" due to its rich cafés' production capabilities; 4) The invention of automatic espresso machines such as those used at Starbucks popularized coffee drinking among professional individuals throughout North America during the 1920s; 5) Erie Street became home to several successful cafes including Pabst Blue Ribbon (owned by PepsiCo), Dunkin' Donuts (owned by Doughnuts Inc.), etc.; 6) Finally, Prohibition led to a decline in business for many Italian-owned coffeehouses across North America beginning in 1922coupled with rises in fuel prices which caused wages To stagnate;; 7) In response these trends over time some independently owned Italian-owned cafes reopened under new management while others closed altogether;; 8) As

The first coffee shop in Buffalo Grove was opened by Mr. and Mrs. Hirsch in 1916. The store was located on the corner of First and State Streets. In 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Wexler opened a second coffee shop, called The Blue Bottle Coffee House, at 5th Street and Erie Avenue in Buffalo Grove. In 1984, the coffee house chain Starbucks was founded in Buffalo Grove by Larry Ellison and David Goldsmith with the goal of providing quality coffee at affordable prices to local businesses throughout Illinois.

Buffalo Grove is part of the Chicago-Naperville- Warrenville Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located about 10 miles north of downtown Chicago on I- 77 and has a rich history dating back to 1837 when it was known as Appleton. In 1881, Buffalo Grove became one of two cities in Cook County that were consolidated with Chicagoland into one municipality. Today, Buffalo Grove continues to be an important community with its many cultural traditions and attractions including the Elmhurst Art Museum (the first museum in Illinois designed forges), Elmhurst Park (largest municipal park in Illinois), and numerous professional sports teams - including the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, and White Sox - as well as its own private school district which includes six public schools and four Xaverian Brothers High Schools. The economy of Buffalo Grove is diverse with many businesses catering to a variety of industries such as health care/ healthcare services; food service; retail stores; financial institutions; manufacturing; construction/real estate; transportation/roadside assistance; tourism; agriculture/farming
As coffee became more popular in the eighteenth century, small-scale roasters and brewers began to emerge. These operators typically produced a higher quality product than large industrial complexes, due in part to their intimate relationships with their consumers. One of the first artisanal coffee roasters was Jeremiah Johnson at Mr. Coffee's Roastery in 1796. This company soon ceased operations, but its legacy lives on through Johnson's Coffee Company, which is still operated by his descendants today. Large-scale commercial production of coffee commenced during the mid-19th century, as brewing technology improved and economies grew more industrialized. However, smaller operators continued to produce high-quality beans for their own customers until about World War II when larger companies took over most of the world's markets for espresso and other coffee drinks. Smaller artisanal roasters have since regained some market share and continue to print unique blends and coffees that inspire passion within enthusiasts around the world.
The first coffee was grown in Ethiopia, and it is believed that the beans were roasted by hand. The first espresso machine was built in 1906 by Italian inventor Angelo Parisi. In 1912, Dutchman Henk Kamp developed the first automatic espresso machine and named it after his father, Hendrik Kamp. In 1938, Swiss engineer Rudolph Schulte invented the automatic cappuccino machine which became popularized by Harry Brown in 1957.
Buffalo Grove is a town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,871. Buffalo Grove was founded in 1837 by Loyal Americans who had fled the American Revolution. The first post office was established in 1839 and the first store was opened in 1840. Buffalo Grove became a township in 1852 and then a village in 1897. The village declined after World War I and failed to recover until it became part of McHenry County as part of the merger of those counties on April 1, 1998. The community began as a small farmstead near where Payson Road intersects industrial railroads running east-west through McHenry County. By 1840, Buffalo Grove boasted only three buildings: a grocery store, an inn (later known as the White Horse), and two Methodist churches which served primarily local farmers and their families during that time period. In 1851, John Wacker bought property at 6th Street and Erie Avenue near present day Southport Elementary School for $1 per acre (today's price would be much higher). Wacker built himself a log cabin which he called "The Old House". He also started to build other homes around this area including one on Elmira Road which still stands today - now renamed "Wacker House" - what is now considered to be among Buffalo Grove's earliest commercial successes. In 1861 when Indiana statehood arrived following the Ulysses S Grant victory over Abraham Lincoln at Appomattox Court House, Buffalo Grove became one of several towns located within Indiana that were not immediately annexed into Illinois following that event; instead they remained under separate governance with their own legislatures until January 1st 1870 when all towns within both states were combined into one entity with equal representation pursuant to the General Assembly Act 3rd Session (1870). This act contained important provisions regarding taxation rates for various communities throughout Illinois due to their significant size; larger towns enjoyed lower tax rates while smaller communities paid more based on their square footage alone* (*This has long been challenged by some residents as being inaccurate as many villages or towns did not reach this level of size until after 1870.) As such*, Buffalo Grove found itself enjoying increased development opportunities thanks largely to its location within Indiana** (*See later section about growth outside ofIndiana***) During this time period there were some major changes taking placewithin the town itself* (*see below for more information)).
