On November 3rd 1861 the incorporation petition for Bradley stated that: "It has been decided by this body that this place should be called “Bradley” because many people have located here since its organization." In 1886 when McFarlane Brothers grocery store moved into their current building on North Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets; it served as both their business headquarters and their civic center until 1978 when they transferred operations to La Grange Park where they continue to operate as a retail store today with additional services including handicrafts sales and arts programming through local galleries located throughout LaGrange Park Village
