When the town of Bradley was founded in 1859, it was named for General John A.Bradley, an American general who served in the Mexican-American War and later fought in the Civil War. The town’s first coffee house was opened on Main Street in 1861. By 1865, Bradley had a population of just over 100 people and two hotels. The first commercial coffee beans were grown by farmers around this time and were ground and sold at local markets. In 1886, Bradley Joined the Illinois Volunteer Force during the American Civil War along with other towns in central Illinois. This gave Bradley a unique relationship with its military leaders which helped to shape its identity as an agricultural community that supported war efforts. After the war, many Bradley residents decided to return to their farms after selling their businesses back to their owners. However, because of this history, coffee remained a significant part of the community until well into the 21st century. Today, there are several small businesses operating within Bradley that still produce high-quality artisan coffee products such as macaroni and cheese dishes and breakfast burritos. In addition to these local businesses, there are also two large chain grocery stores located within walking distance of downtownBradley. In 1854 he erected the first white house in what is now Bradley village; today's home Still stands (and can be seen). One of Mr.Bradley's descendants still lives thereabouts: Mrs. Anna Easley who resided until her death in 2006; she was married to one of my grandsons! In 1902 JW Bradleys son Capt Ransom Easley purchased 2 farms south & east of present day timbers west side road old post office & 3 miles northeast corner I-64 (now Main Street) & founded what would become Crystal City Park next door owned by Maj Gen Gainer Colvin USMC Ulysses S Grant’s uncle – this property later passed thru my father into our family

In 1795, Giovanni Battista Bormio founded the first modern espresso house in Rome. Bormio was also responsible for introducing the Italian espresso cup into Europe, which gave birth to what we now know as drip coffee. In 1875, Luigi Beccaria developed the first commercial pump-driven espresso machine in Italy. This machines used water pressure and a small amount of hot water to create an intense roast. over time more and more machines were developed that could produce high-quality espresso drinks on demand (DUO). Bradley is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kane County. Bradley was founded in 1868 by John and Anna Bradley and became a city in 1907. The first settlers in Bradley were Anna's father and his brother-in-law, George Haggerty. They began to farm land near what is now the downtown area of Bradley on the banks of the Willamette River. In 1868, they married John's sister Sarah and started a family. When John died suddenly in 1870, daughterAnna took over management of the farm while her mother stayed to raise children Sarah (1871-1947) and Anna (1873-1956). In 1907, when Kane County was created from part of Cook County, Bradley became its first city limits and continued to be governed by its own mayor and council until 1958 when it became an incorporated village under Chicago Municipal Law No. 912. On December 3rd of that year, Mayor James "Jim" Nowlan announced that he would not seek re-election because he had become too old for office; the next day City Council voted 5-0 to change their rules so that any mayor who retired before age 70 could run for election as an individual candidate again but must first serve out his full term as an elected official from then until death or resignation; this rule did not apply to current Mayor Gary Myrick who celebrated his 80th birthday on December 7th (he has served since January 1st 2009). Bradley remains one of only two cities in Kane County still governed by its own mayor – along with nearby Belleville – though all other municipalities have adopted Chicago Municipal Law No. 912 which gives equal powers to all municipal entities within its boundaries without distinction as to size or importance within Kane County government overall. In addition to being home to many local businesses including restaurants and theaters as well as several hospitals like Northwestern Memorial Hospital & Medical Center which are both located just south of town on I-90 eastbound between US 12/13 exit #2B & SR 99 northbound off exit #4A), Bradley also boasts some impressive historical markers such as Old State Schoolhouse built c 1860 (& replaced 1929), Post Office built 1865 (~now used as a library), Presbyterian Church built c 1830 (~now used as a museum) & First Baptist Church built 1872 (~currently used for civic functions).
