Bensenville is a small town in the Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Bensenville is located on the east side of Kane County and bordered by Aurora to the north, Lombard to the south-west, and Will County to the east. The first settlers in what would become Bensenville were farmers who arrived in 1825 from Vermont. A post office called "Benjamin" was established in 1850, and became known as "Bensenville" after Hyrum Bennington, an early settler. The village was named for John Bensen, an early settler from New Jersey who bought land here in 1853. By 1860, there were twelve homes in Bennington Village and three stores and a blacksmith shop. In 1865, five families moved into what would become Bennington Township. By 1870, there were fifteen homes with a population of fifty-four people; four businesses had been founded: a grocery store (1875), tailor shop (1879), bedroom & breakfast house (1881), and school board barn (1884). In 1898–99 when voters approved annexation of neighboring Lombard Township by Kane County as part of a larger plan to increase agricultural production within Cook County,[2] Bensenville residents joined those living within Cook County for their own government and social amenities.[3] That same year saw construction begin on what would be known as Park Drive which ran through much of present day Bennington Village before terminating at Brookfield Road just outside modern day Bennington Township limits today. The drive served as an important artery linking all parts of village until it disappeared behind buildings along with most other infrastructure following World War II when roads were constructed around newly annexed areas to make them more accessible postwar developments like Rockford Hills/South Side/Lawrence Park etcetera etcetera The current community began forming around this time with freshly built subdivisions being created parallel to Park Drive including one called Elmhurst which still exists today adjacent to modern day Wellesley Avenue near Lake Michigan Boulevard although severely damaged due heavy flooding during the 2007 Illinois floods[4]. As development continued throughout this century new names for portions or streets such as Prospect Heights/Homesite Ridge/Sandy Beach followed changing needs associated with growing populations density changes connected more directly with industry growth downtown Chicagoland unable or unwilling to provide matching services closer thereto justifying increased reliance on private transportation modes optionality increasing costs resulting adverse environmental impacts resultant public outcry culminating ceding control over services formerly provided municipally earliest inhabitants choice having little voice thereby perpetuating privilege

Bensenville is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,362 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Bensenville was first settled in 1836 by men from Kentucky and Indiana working on the Illinois Central Railroad. The community name likely comes from John Bensen, who came to this region in 1836 as an engineer for the railroad. The first permanent home in Bensenville was built on a site that still stands today: a large tract of land bordering North Elgin Township on the east and west sides and bounded by West Adams Boulevard on the north, South Elgin Boulevard on the south, and Racine Avenue on the west. During its early years, Bensenville had only one store and no school. But with development of transportation within reach by wagon road (the opening of which helped spur growth), business began to increase rapidly in early 1840s. A new store building, which still stands today near Court Street and North Roche Road, was erected about 1840; it became known as "The Old Store". In 1846–47 two more stores were built: one at 10th Place and State Street (now Pershing Square) and another at Elmira Avenue and State Street (now Irving Park Road). A post office called Bensenville was established in 1848; it remained in operation until 1865 when it was moved to what is now Douglas Park across from Northwestern University. It wasn't until after World War II that Bensenville truly blossomed into an important community with many businesses including several banks/finance firms along Court Street as well as several medical centers/consultants before entering into technological age during 1960s through 1970s becoming an electronic information hub while also experiencing rapid growth during 1990s through 2000s becoming a major center for arts & entertainment
