Belvidere, Illinois is one of the most coffee-crazy cities in America. The city was founded in 1847 as a small community on the banks of the Belvidere River. It quickly grew into an important center for coffee production and commerce, and by 1870 had become one of the largest coffee-producing towns in the United States. The growth of coffee production led to an increase in demand for beans, and so Belvidere began producing its own beans. In 1907, a new factory was built to process larger quantities of beans, and this led to increased profits for the town. By 1912, Belvidere had become one of the leading coffee-production towns in America. However, during World War I (1914-18),Belvidere was hit hard by war shortages. This caused many businesses to close their doors, and although it did not cause outright economic decline, it did lead to some significant financial problems for the town. In 1919, Belvidere became part of Chicago; however, because Chicago's coffee industry was much more advanced than that of Belvidere at that time, local business continued to thrive until well into the 1970s. Despite these difficulties during his lifetime (Belvin died in 1925), George Grinstead - who later became headmaster at nearby Stroudsburg School - remains one of history's most influential figures in American coffee culture. Grinstead helped popularize whole bean java throughout North America while also working tirelessly to promote sustainable practices within his industry; he is considered both a father figure and mentor to contemporary roasteries across America.

In 1975, Belvidere Coffee was sold to National Coffee Corporation, which continued to grow and improve the product while maintaining close relationships with its customers throughout Illinois and other parts of North America. Today, National Coffee Corporation is a subsidiary of Roemer & Sons Inc., headquartered in Decatur, Illinois.
Belvidere is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous of the five towns in Cook County that are part of the Chicago metropolitan area and home to one-third of all residents working in Chicago's primary economy. Belvidere was founded as a post office on December 10, 1836 by General John Fitch and his wife Elizabeth Belknap Fitch. The name "Belvidere" comes from an Italian phrase meaning "valley of beautiful flowers." The original town site included only two buildings - a log cabin and a barn - although it soon grew into a community with six churches and over 100 businesses. By 1860, Belvidere had reached its peak as a commercial center with more than 150 stores and 25 banks. In 1871, however, railroads arrived in the area and commerce quickly declined; by 1910 Belvidere had only 12 stores remaining. Despite this decline, through hard work and dedication by its citizens, Belvidere managed to maintain its nickname "The Valley of Roses." Belvidere, Illinois was founded in 1836 by Captain John Belvidere. The town is named after the Battle of Belvidere, which took place on October 14, 1812. The town was originally called "Niles." In 1855, the name was changed to "Belvidere" after Captain John Belvidere's death. The first post office was established in 1836 and the first store opened in 1840. The first school district was organized in 1853. The population of Belvideere increased from 3 to 95 by 1880. By 1905, the population had decreased to 15 and the last post office closed in 1907. The economic development of Belvidere began with its incorporation as a village in 1903. Manufacturing and trade became key industries during this time and many local businesses remain open today including a bank, grocery store, lumberyard, printing press, dairy barns and more. Many residents are buried at Mount Hope Cemetery which is located just north of town. Belvidere has experienced many events throughout its history such as being home to both World War II veterans and politicians who played an important role during that time period as well as hosting numerous events for the Illini football team over the years including three national championships between 1951-1957 under coach George Mikan (Mikan also coached Ulysses S Grant High School).
