Bob was born in Germany and came to America at the age of sixteen to work on his family's farm. He found success working at his father's grocery store, but he always wanted to open his own store. In 1961, Bob Kappeler opened his first cafe in Weingarten Township near Chicago. For over fifty years, he operated his own business - until he passed away in 2003. Today, Starbucks Corporation operates The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf as a private entity under license from its original owner - Bob Kappeler's son-in-law Harry Carden Jr.. Belvidere, Illinois is a small town in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,619 as of the 2010 census. Belvidere is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Belvidere was founded in 1836 by Major George Stephenson and his wife Annabelle Stephenson as a small community on the banks of the Calumet River. It became an important railway stop because it served as a junction for several lines reaching central Illinois. The town lost its importance after railroads were built to bypass it. However, its architecture and downtown district remain popular tourist destinations. Belvidere was first settled by American Indians and French Canadians who arrived from Quebec during the early 19th century. In 1836, Major George Stephenson purchased land in what is now Belvidere from some Native Americans for $2 per acre (1/4 mile). He named his new community after himself and his wife, Annabelle Stephenson. The village becoming known as "Belvidere" began to grow rapidly due to its location on one of the few major routes connecting central Illinois with New York City and other parts of America. By 1840, Belvidere had over 100 residents and boasted a Methodist church, public house, post office (founded in 1841), school (1842), Baptist church (1845), jail (1846), Masonic lodge (1847), sawmill (1850), cemetery (1853) and two stores/livery stable(s). The first railroad line reached Belvidere in 1846 when the Erie Railroad joined forces with the Central Pacific Railroad to build a line connecting Chicago with St Louis via Indianapolis. As traffic increased on this route through central Illinois growth slowed until improvements were made at Belle Isle National Bank in Park Ridge which functioned as both a depot for travelers coming into or leaving Chicago and also served as home to belvedere merchants buying supplies at local auctions from across America including items such as lumber produced in nearby Indiana towns like Teramonti Falls or Elkhart Lake along with produce picked up by farmers near Batavia or Onondaga lakes near Syracuse NY during winter months when prices were cheaper than back home; baskets made fromHackberry fruit that often traveled thousands of miles downriver before being caught by fishermen near Mayport FL; wagons filled with saltpeter mined out near La Salle IL during fall & winter seasons used to supply military camps throughout midwestern US
