The Bellwood Air Force Base Museum is a museum on the campus of Bellwood-Hennepin County Airport in Bloomington, Illinois. It was founded in 1979 as the headquarters for the newly created Air Force Reserve Command. The museum is dedicated to the history and culture of therafied air force and its members. In 1983, the Air Force purchased an old hangar at Hennepin County Airport which served as Headquarters Annex until it was closed in 1991. In that year, Headquarters Annex moved to its current location on airport property.
Bellwood is a small town in DeKalb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 914 as of the 2010 census. It lies within the Chicago metropolitan area. Bellwood was platted on May 12, 1837, by John Wetherbee and James Hamerty. The first post office in the community was established on December 5, 1839. It changed its name to Bellwood on July 1, 1847. According to the 2010 census, Bellwood has a total area of , of which (or 99.92%) is land and (or 0.08%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 728 people, 242 households, and 192 families residing in the village proper. The population density was 25 people per square mile (10/km²). There were 259 housing units at an average density of 11 per square mile (4/km²). The racial makeup of the village proper was 98% White; 2% Black or African American; and 0% Native American or Alaska Native

Here are a few select examples: 1) The Lockheed P-2 Neptune: This aircraft was gifted to the USAF in 1948 by Lockheed Aircraft Co. It was originally designed as an all-weather reconnaissance and air supremacy fighter. After successfully sighting and destroying enemy planes on many occasions, it became known as America's "World War II Navy." The P-2 was later upgraded with nuclear weapons capabilities, making it one of the most powerful fighters of its time. In 1972, it was retired from service and placed into storage at Edwards AFB, California. However, in 1984, it was finally restored to flying condition and returned to active duty as part of Air Forces Two during Operation Desert Storm. 2) The Boeing E-4D Skyhawk: This jet bomber received its first flight in 1962 and quickly became one of the most popular bombers in the USAF inventory. It is often considered one of the best jets ever built and played a significant role in numerous wars including Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. After being retired from service in 1998, it passed through several phases before being donated to Nellis AFB Museum where it currently resides. 3) The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle: This interceptorjet reached operational status with the USAF in 1978 after being developed from the McDonnell Douglas DC-9 family of jets. It quickly became one of the most iconic fighter jets ever made and remains today one of America's favorite aircrafts – both for its performance and design features! After serving multiple deployments throughout Southeast Asia during Operation Enduring Freedom (2001–2002), it passed through several incarnations before ultimately retiring from service at Mayland AFB, California in 2006.
Bellwood is a village in Jackson County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Bellwood was John Witherspoon and his family who arrived in 1836. The village was organized on December 15, 1838 with a population of just six people. In 1851, George Stephenson built the first railway in this area which connected Bellwood with Galena and Rockford. This railroad led to increased trade and industry in the town which helped to support the development of Bellwood as a small community. The Village had its own schoolhouse from 1852-1855 before it moved to the old Union School District building which still stands today within walking distance of most homes in town. In 1870, one of Bellwood's two churches was built - First Baptist Church (which still stands today). In 1886, when Illinois became a state,Bellwood voted to join the new state and changed its name to Bellefontaine after Bellefonte Township south of Chicago where much of their business took place at that time. With vigorous growth during this time period (and continued growth into the 21st century), many businesses opened up throughout Bellefontaine including an estimated 20-30 grocery stores; 6 banks; 5 auto repair shops; 2 restaurants; 3 pastry shops; 2 watchmakers; 1 jeweler/watchmaker shop; 3 health clinics;; 4 hair stylists;; and numerous other businesses catering to all levels of customers. Bellefontaine also became home to one very large manufacturing company - Schlumberger Pipe & Tube Company - whose products included pumpkins, pipelines, valves etc., as well as toys for children and other household items such as dishesware etc.. Throughout these years there were always people working hard helping make life easier for everyone within Bellefontaine - whether it be through providing services like laundry supplies or making coffee when needed!
The town of Bellwood was chartered in 1825, and named for General James Wilkinson. The first settler in the area was John Hays, who moved from Kentucky to what is now the town in 1827. The present-day town of Bellwood was established by subscription in 1832. At its incorporation, Bellwood had a population of fifty two people. In 1830, the Illinois State Road Company was organized and began construction on what is now I-290. This road connected Chicago with Rockford, Illinois; it helped to spur economic development in the area. In 1847, the belltower at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Bellwood was built as part of a larger project to improve transportation infrastructure statewide. In 1865, Union Generals Ulysses S Grant and Hardee traveled through the area on their way to battle at Vicksburg. They stopped at Bellwood for dinner before continuing their march southward. During this time, many businesses and homes were destroyed by Confederate forces during the Battle ofBellwoods Bridge over the Sangamon River。 In 1870, when Illinois became a state, Bellwood became one of its first townships; it has since grown into an incorporated city with a population over six thousand residents today! During World War II (1939–1945), many local farms were used as assembly plants for war materiel; these production facilities also fueled economic growth within the city throughout 1945 and into 1946. After World War II ended, much ofBellwoods manufacturing base closed down or shifted away from physical products towards service industries such as computer programming and engineering services; however some factories that did stay open continued operations until around 2000.
