She toured North America before returning to her home port at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where she underwent refurbishment before serving in Europe during World War II as part of Australia's Pacific Fleet. After hostilities ended there in 1945 she decommissioned and was sold for scrap metalification in 1951-1953 across six states including Illinois but one day later she caught fire while being scrapped near Joliette and burned down completely killing all aboard except one man who survived (Lundy).
