Payne and Larkin operated a small shop on First Street that sold ground beans and brewed coffee. In 1912, they opened a larger business at 5th Avenue and Washington Street. The shop became known as Payton's Coffee House and continued to serve local customers until 1949 when it closed down due to financial problems. In 1957, the first Starbucksopened its doors in Beach Park with emphasis on providing quality cup of Joe services over retail sales alone. Since then, Starbucks has become one of the most popular businesses in Beach Park with over 1,000 employees worldwide!Starbucks continues to make an impact on the community by donating money to various causes through their philanthropic initiatives such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, homeless assistance programs, military outreach initiatives, cancer research charities etcetera

Beach Park is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first people to live in Beach Park were the Potawatomi and Fox Indians. The town was named after General John Beachey, who fought in the American Revolution as a colonel on the staff of General George Washington. The name "Beach Park" comes from two places - Beachey Point on Lake Michigan and Beacheys Harbor on Illinois's western coast. In 1884, Arthur Ashe played tennis at Reggio Emilia in Italy with then-Marquette player Louis Connors and his father, Paddy Connors. After returning home, John Shea decided to open an amusement park called Beach Park near his house on State Route 51 in 1907. In 1912, local developer Harry Hargrave built a movie theater and other amusements called the Floridian which served as the community's main economic center until it burned down in 1954. Beach Park was annexed by McHenry County in 1922 and became a part of its new county seat of Peoria. As Peoria grew more populous and developed into one of the most economically successful cities in Illinois during the 1920s and 1930s, Beach Park slowly began to lose its importance as an agricultural village affiliated with neighboring Unadilla Township or rural McHenry County residents mainly engaged in raising livestock or fishing for North Atlantic salmonids that ranged along much of Northwest Indiana at that time (the early 20th century). The last major development taking place within Beach Park occurred between 1945-1948 when US Army Signal Corps officers established Camp White Sands nearby; this displaced many World War II veterans who had settled there prior to that point including many women from Cook County ILCS 5/9 Annapolis Road section 4 East including Mrs Florence McNamara who ran St Joseph’s Catholic School until her death year 2000 aged 96 years also Mrs Jannie Ryan public school teacher & First Lady Of Cook Co., “Queen Bee” right up until her death year 2003 aged 89 years; their children still living there today are now citizens of Beach Park post war era through marriage alliances etcetera reaching back over 100 years ago their ancestors did original settler work starting life here not knowing they would ever see this day again Thank you for your Memories
