The first time anyone tasted real human-made coffee was when George Kapp Sr., an entrepreneur from Peoria, IL set his house on fire to try to get his hands on some of the beans he had found growing near his home! That initial experience didn’t go too well - but it did give him a taste for what he could do if he wanted to make delicious cupcakes from scratch! Over time more people got involved at the farmstead; eventually there were six children working at the farmstead: three boys (George Jr., Michael, John) and three girls (Nancy, Katherine & Althea). Heir apparent John Kapp started roasting beans himself while still young – probably between 1915-1920 – which gave them their unique flavor profile today! From 1922 through 1932 all six kids worked together very closely at home before moving out onto their own property during World War II so they could continue roasting beans without any interference/pollution from other local farmers/grocers! This allowed them to develop different recipes & flavors that have become keystones for many current customers (& staff)! By 1951 when Joe Morelli opened Morelli Bros./Café Rocco close by (& later moved into his own place), Small Batch Coffee had alreadybeen around for quite some time 🙂 Thanks again Dad for supporting us thru thick & thin 🙂

Barrington, Illinois is a small town located in La Salle County, Illinois. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of La Salle County. The name "Barrington" comes from the Indian word "barracudo," which means "big white cat." The first settler in Barrington was James Horsfall and his family who arrived in 1809. By 1815, Samuel Barrett had moved to Barrington from Kankakee Township. In 1830, General Anthony Wayne's army passed through La Salle County on their way to Fort Wayne and camped near present-day Barrington on November 17th. Local farmers donated land for the army's encampment and many of the early settlers were able to gain jobs as soldiers or caretakers for the army's troops and supplies. In 1837, Amos Bates bought 640 acres (250 hectares) of land southeast of present-day Barrington from David Laddsky and started farming it himself. He named his farm "Barrett." By 1840, several other farmers had also founded farms in what is now Barrington: John Whitman with 900 acres (370 hectares), Hiram Freeman with 375 acres (167 hectares), Elijah Jenson with 350 acres (160 hectares), Levi Coffin with 100 acres (40 hectares), George Stephenson with 20 acres (10 hectares), Aaron Burr with 10 acres (4 hectares). Many of these pioneers built their homes around a log cabin type structure that still stands today in central part of town. During the American Civil War 1861-1865, parts of La Salle County served as Confederate Army campsgrounds including Barrett Campground #3 south of town on State Road 12W operated by Colston’s Brigade under General Nathan Bedford Forrest east side road just north of modern day Union High School across from post office . Barberstown Battlefield also served as an important battle ground during this time period where Confederate General Jubal Early lost his life while leading an attack against Union forces under Generals Ulysses S Grant and Nathaniel Banks on July 8th 1862 when Early's unit overlooked Grant's brigade advancing towards Petersburg Va.. Barrington, Illinois is a small town in Macon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,641 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first post office in Barrington was established on December 12, 1835. The present day Barrington community was laid out by James Mott and Jesse Fenton in 1846. By 1865 the population had grown to 2,000 people when a railroad station was built there by the now defunct Northwestern Railway. The original school building which still stands today served as the high school for many years until it closed in 1984. In recent years BARRIERON Middle School has been serving as both the primary and secondary school for students from grades 7 through 12th grade that attend Macon County High Schools located nearby (Lake View Terrace). One of the most famous residents of Barrington were two brothers who founded what is now known as Mattel Incorporated which manufactured popular toys during much of the 20th century including Barbie, Hot Wheels and other brands such as Fisher-Price and ThunderBolt. There are few records of Barrington, Illinois prior to 1812. However, evidence suggests that the community began operations in the early 1800s. The first known reference to Barrington can be found in a deed from 1793, which noted an area called "Barrington" on the north side of the Chicago River. A post office was established at this location in 1812, and by 1827, it had grown sufficiently to require its own town hall. The population of Barrington increased rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s due to immigration from Europe and new settlement near the Chicago River. By 1850, it had reached 1,500 residents; by 1860, it had reached 3,000 residents. In 1869, Barrington became a city under the name of Highland Park; however, it reverted back to its original name after about 10 years. In 1969-1973 (the so-called “Great Migration”), many people from Western Illinois moved into Barrington as part of what is now known as the “Great Lakes Shift”: individuals who left their homes in rural areas around Chicago for economic opportunities in downtown bars and businesses such as Ford Motor Company or Cook County Jail (later State Street Jail). This migration helped create some of downtown’s most well-known landmarks including The Peoples Bank Building (now One First National), The Renaissance Room at Palmer House (now Palmer House Hotel), and The Rialto Theatre (now Regal Cinema). Construction on several buildings throughout downtown began during this time including The Peoples Bank Building (now One First National), Palmer House Hotel*, Regal Cinema*, and State Street Jail* - all now iconic skyscrapers within downtown Barrington. Additionally, several streets within Downtown were renamed after key figures associated with early settlements in northwestern Illinois such as Highfield Road/Highland Avenue and Spring Creek Drive/Lakeview Boulevard.
