The M1 Abrams Tank was originally developed by Chrysler Defense Systems in 1984 as a multipurpose armored vehicle which could be used as either an infantry fighting vehicle or an artillery piece depending on its configuration. It served throughout most of World War II before being replaced by the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle in 1991. The M1A2 Abrams Tank entered service with the US Army in 2009 after several redesigns and updates including changes to its ammunition system and engine architecture which made it more powerful than previous tanks. Aurora, Illinois is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 33,569 at the 2010 census. Aurora is the third-largest city in Cook County after Chicago and Evanston. Downtown Aurora experienced another renaissance beginning in the late 1990s when new restaurants began opening up along State Street near West Side Park (a public park that is bordered by University Avenue on one side and State Street on the other). This area has since become known as "Downtownaurora". Aurora has been hit hard recently by economic instability brought about by global recession; however, Mayor Tom Barrett has pledged to help revitalize downtown while maintaining access to quality Parks & Recreation services for all residents regardless of income levels or job accessibility.
