Alsip is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 26,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was laid out in 1848 by Alfred Hennepin and his brother Jacob Alsip as a tiny community on the east side of Chicago. By 1872, it had grown to include a school and other public buildings. Alsip's growth continued until the early 20th century when its population fell victim to housing developments on the west side of Chicago. In 1928, during prohibition times, Alsip became one of the first towns in Illinois to approve liquor licenses for speakeasies. In 1949, Alsip merged with neighboring unincorporated rural communities Ballwin and Elgin to form what is now known as "the Loop". AlsIP formed an economic cluster with businesses that supplied goods and services to residents within its borders including printing shops, hotels and restaurants along I-94 (today's Cicero Avenue). These firms thrived through boomerang effects: new businesses started up nearby because customers could already get what they needed from those around them without having to move or take risks; older businesses stayed open longer because they could charge higher prices for quality items than their competitors because their customers were more likely to be repeat visitors or even locals; and people who either owned or ran these businesses often took advantage of government subsidies which helped keep them afloat through difficult times. Today there are several high-traffic attractions located within walking distance of AlspiP such as Northwestern University's McCormick Place campus and The Blackshear Road shopping center - both operated by local companies that enjoy government subsidies just like many of the establishments mentioned earlier. Overall, this vibrant community has managed to stay afloat despite being outside of downtown Chicago's core while still providing essential services such as grocery store ownership/operation/runnings by women and access to cultural events located near downtownChicago

Alsip is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Alsip was chartered on March 10, 1871, as a village of three towns - Bloomingdale, Niles and Rome - by the General Assembly of Illinois. Bloomingdale and Rome merged to form Alsip on January 1, 1872. The Village of Alsip was organized on December 16, 1872 from parts of the Townships of Bloomingdale (north), Niles (south) and Rome (east) by Act No. 292 of that year. The site for what would become Alsip had been surveyed in 1865 by George Washington Reynolds and it became part of Bloomingdale Township when that township was created from parts of Northbrook Township on November 15, 1868. According to the 2010 census report*, there were 1,814 people living in Alsip when the census took place; however due to growth since then only 818 people live within the boundaries currently defined as part of Alsip – this includes all those originally living within or annexed to Bloomfield Township which surrounds Alsip proper but now included in Rome Township’s borders. Of these 818 residents: 736 are employed full-time in some capacity; 134 are teachers; 24 are self-employed entrepreneurs/businesses; four are retired military personnel* (*Although many residents no longer reside within Bloomfield Township because they have moved away – see below *) In 1870 there were 3 villages total: Bloomingdale (north), Niles (south), and Rome (east). On January 1st 1872 these three villages amalgamated into one with a population size estimated at around 2200 people*. This number may have increased over time because most likely remaining villagers who did not move away also contributed towards totals above 3000 according to recent data compiled by local historian Dave Purdy* (*This data does not include any current or former employees or students at Northern Illinois University who either attend classes or work during their college years*) . A post office called "Alsips" was established in February 1873 thanks largely to donations from John Hankshaw Sr.* (*One frequent donor*) . Mail service began between Alsburg and Paris IN 1902(*Established after horse & buggy service between those two locations ceased*) . By 1907 there were 5 retail businesses including groceries store operated by James Aiken*, (&opened first store west side Kane Road*) *At this time Kane Road extended allthe way south through what is today Lombard Avenue*) In 1925 there was an auto dealership opened up adjacent to present day KFC restaurant known as “The Big Three” which served lunch until 1974 when it closed down due to economic conditions*. From 1927 until its closure *In addition To serving pizza* ; “Nostalgia Coffee Roasters” also functioned at this location selling coffee beans direct from roasted beans purchased fresh every morning.. In 1951 Purdy started compiling old photo albums from various businesses days before they closed& donated them along with negatives back to business owners for display inside their stores! Today much oral history about early civilization takes place here including interviews with some long gone business owners who can be found behind many doorways still standing today!
