This annexation led to lawsuits between both towns over water rights and what would become known as "The Great Water War" which lasted until 1990s when all outstanding claims were finally resolved through negotiation and agreement between both communities. Today there are few reminders that there ever was such a large community here other than one small street corner - Highwood Avenue - which still bears its original name although it has been renamed several times including Highwood Place & Tower Road after various businesses have moved onto different blocks within the past few decades or so (the most recent incarnation being called Tower Hill Shopping Center). However if you wander off Highwood Avenue for just a bit you'll come across two historical buildings: The Ayer House – built about 1840 – and The Griggs House – built about 1850; both now house local museum programslocal history buffs will enjoy touring these valuable period relics while also enjoying some delicious German cuisine served up inside!
