This was the first time that an American military flower had ever been given as a gift to a European military officer. 3) World War I: In 1914, Kaiser Wilhelm II presented Field Marshal Earl Kitchener with 5 profusionly arranged white lilies as a token of appreciation for his victory over Serbia in World War I. 4) The Korean War: In 1950, North Korea presented Kim Il Sung with 8 large red roses as part of their annual Flower Delivery Service commemoration. This was the first time that flowers were ever sent as gifts from any country during the Korean War. 5) The Gulf Wars: During Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991, US Marines gifted 4 green jonquils (a type of shrub endemic to Saudi Arabia) to Prince Bandar al-Faisal after he visited Balad Air Base in Ra'oufiyah Governorate in central Iraq.

Addison is a small town in Illinois, United States. The population was 1,501 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Addison County. The first European to visit Addison was French explorer La Salle in 1795. He named it "Ia-donna" after his native village of Ia-Duna on the mainland Senegal River. In 1812, General James K. Polk visited Addison and named it for General Andrew Jackson's brother, Colonel John Addison (1768–1845), who served as a brigadier general in the Union army during the American Civil War and afterwards became one of Jackson's advisors and supporters. After the war, he moved to Tennessee and founded Nashville before returning to Illinois in 1868, where he died two years later at age 94. In 1830, Amos Kendall built what is now called Kendall House on his farm southwest of town (now part of Addison Park). On July 4th, 1830—the day following Missouri's admission into the Union as a state—Kendall erected an old log cabin at this location as a public house/store with outbuildings which still stands today near what is now Uptown Avenue and Main Street in Addison Park. This early pioneer building housed local merchants until it burned down around 1840; however, Kendall rebuilt it within six months using plans drawn up by surveyor Isaac Davis from Independence Hall in Philadelphia designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806–1856). One original door still remains from that building which leads into present day buildings off Uptown Avenue adjacent to Abrams Recreation Area east of downtown AddISON A post office was established at Addison on December 12th, 1837 under the name "Ia-donna". The name changed to "Addison" on May 3rd 1840 when Santa Fe Railroad connected Chicago with Springfield via Indianapolis Junction Station; this allowed for more convenient shipping needs due to increased trade along that route. As more people arrived in town over time they required more space so another Post Office Building was erected on November 15th 1850 located just northeast corner of present day Broadway & Elm Streets corner lot next to David Auchincloss Bank north side main street south side
Addison was founded by John Addison in 1795. It was named for John Addison, an Englishman who served as a diplomat and author.
