The Twin Falls Naval Air Station is home to the USS Ponce (LHD-1) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (LHD-2). The LHD-1 was decommissioned in 2001 and replaced by the LHD-2. Twin Falls,Idaho is a small town located in the Boise-Caldwell County area of eastern Idaho. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. The town had its start when settlers arrived in the early 1800s. It was first known as North Twinville and then as Twin Falls. The name " Twin Falls" was given to it by two brothers who were prospectors in the area. In 1887, a railroad line was built through the area and renamed the Great Northern Railway after twin falls in Oregon. In 1907, a post office was established in Twinsburg and mail service began operation from that location. In 1923, Twinsburg incorporated as a city and adopted its current name of Twin Falls. Twin Falls is located at (41.545674, -111.925465). It has an elevation of 476 feet (152 m). The 2010 census found 1,868 people living in Twinsburg; 711 of those residents lived on Main Street which runs south-southwest from downtown into the center of town; and 446 residents resided on other streets within or around downtown Twin Falls

Twin Falls, Idaho (population: 8,812) is the county seat of Kootenai County and the largest city in the U.S. state of Idaho. The city is located on the Snake River at its confluence with the Clearwater River. It was founded in 1881 by John Waddell as a trading post on Misery Creek, which emptied into Clearwater River at what is now Twin Falls National Monument. The first European to visit Twin Falls was Jedediah Smith in 1824 when he and his party of three men explored what is now Kootenai County from its eastern edge near present-day Honoré, Oregon through much of what is now central and southern Idaho before returning home to Telluride, Colorado on July 24th that year. In late 1861, during America's Civil War, General George Custer agreed to lead an attack against the Union forces under Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Vail at Battle of Washita Hill near Twinsburg Junction in present-day Lincoln County. After leading his brigade across Snake River on horseback for about three hours during which time they killed or captured over 40 Union soldiers and five cannons before being forced back by Confederate forces under General Robert Eichelberger at a location called “Custer’s suicide position” northeast of here today—the only major engagement fought within direct sight of modern-day Twin Falls—Custer became known as “The conqueror” after this event which resulted in one death among more than 200 injuries suffered by his unit soon afterwards when it evacuated eastward along Route 66 towards Independence Missouri. After America's Civil War ended in 1865, local people began farming areas around what is now Twin Falls City Limits although logging continued until 1903 when it was finally stopped due to concerns about firewood prices; however periodic fires still occur today starting from early springtime throughout fallowing periods resulting in some loss of property value but also generating income for both landowners and firefighters who are required by law to extinguish these fires every Monday morning since 1902 according to information provided by Boise State University Fire Research Laboratory (BRL). Two large dams were built adjacent to each other along Clearwater River between 1915 and 1936 as part of irrigation efforts associated with World War I; however no significant economic development occurred due largely because there were no natural resources nearby that could be exploited commercially or generated revenue from water sales. The area now known as Twin Falls was first settled by the Hidatsa tribe in the late 18th century. In 1800, General George Armistead and his forces were moving westward through Idaho Territory when they came across a large body of water called The Snake. He named the stream after himself and his regiment, the 1st Arkansas Infantry. The town of Twin Falls was founded on the site of present-day downtown in 1868, when a group of businessmen organized to develop what would be the first irrigated agricultural land in western Idaho.
