The Idaho National Guard was activated on December 28, 1907. The first troop arrived in Monticello, ID on January 6, 1908. The guard was initially organized as a detachment of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the California Volunteers. On July 1, 1911 the detachment was redesignated as the 3rd Infantry Regiment and activated at Pocatello Army Depot. The regiment moved to Anaconda Army Depot on October 12 and were assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of I Corps headquartered in Boise. On November 16, 1918, the regiment became part of XVII Corps when it was re-designated as II Corps and stationed at Fort Lewis Army Base north of Seattle. In September 1949 the regiment relocated from Fort Lewis to Mountain Home Air Force Base near Mountain Home, Idaho where it remained until its activation as a National Guard unit on December 28, 2007.
Mountain Home is a city in Idaho, United States. The population was 5,033 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butte County. The city is located on the Boise River and is one of the few cities in central Idaho that has no boundaries other than its streets and blocks within its limits. The first people to live in what is now Mountain Home were Native Americans who roamed the area for hunting and fishing purposes. In 1877, J.C. Richardson founded a grist mill around which Mountain Home developed as a small town with an estimated population of 100 residents in 1909. However, by 1920, only 9 residents remained and by 1930 it had shrunk to 6 people living in 10 businesses including a grocery store, post office, bank and two churches. In 1941 when World War II began, Mountain Home became an important military airbase for the war effort with over 1,000 individuals working here at various jobs including aircraft maintenance, ammunition storage and production lines for munitions such as gasoline cans filled with explosives that were used to initiation artillery shells or napalm attacks against enemy forces deep inside Japan during World War II. During this time period there also emerged another significant aspect of Mountain Home’s history: cultural exchange between Chinese immigrants from China who had come to work on local farms (known as “Nations Boys”) and Caucasian citizens who came to visit or live among these new arrivals; both groups interacted socially and exchanged knowledge about their cultures through education programs conducted by church organizations like First Baptist Church which opened up its doors to all comers during this time period; many Chinese immigrants also worked odd jobs providing much needed income for their families while others went into business themselves becoming entrepreneurs/business owners later on in life In 1951 when the Cold War ended there followed a rapid expansion of industry around town as everyone got back into full-time work again following years of peacetime stability; however due to increasing competition from elsewhere things started unraveling quickly within our community caused by lack of foresight – primarily lack of planning along with over-abundance of marketing materials available leading people not too realize just how susceptible we are to natural disasters like floods or wildfires which can impact any community greatly affecting economic stability . As technology advanced we saw increased reliance on computers etc but because our infrastructure wasn’t built yet computer security breaches continue unabated resulting not only in loss of data but often entire businesses are impacted leaving us struggling long after those short notices have gone out warning citizens about potential dangers lurking just around every corner . By 2007 complete transformation had occurred within our city government causing more fragmentation within City Council members decision making process leading ultimately to budget overruns then ever before resulting in strained relationships between Council Members & Mayor . With little hope left for anything positive happening given current conditions our city councils refusal even offered funding for an emergency preparedness plan despite knowing full well how vulnerable we currently are makes me believe that if it weren’t for some special circumstances I would consider calling it quits myself rather than see our beloved city go through yet another lost decade

One of the most significant moments in the Guards’ history was when they answered America’s call to serve in World War II. It only lasted until 1898 because World War I broke out and the nation needed more troops. The Guard was first organized into companies and battalions and then brigades under the command of a colonel. From 1903-1918, it was organized into divisions which were in turn divided into regiments. On July 15, 1918, President Woodrow Wilson signed a bill making the Guards an infantry regiment and eventually an arm of the army.
Mountain Home was a small town in Idaho before it merged with Price, Idaho to form Price, ID on Feb. 14, 1907. The two towns were hemorrhaging people and businesses as the gold rush ended in 1907. By 1911, the population of Mountain Home had shrunk to just over 900 residents. In 1912, the US government offered $10,000 for any man who could find a new place to settle in America. Two men from Mountain Home applied and were accepted into the United States Agricultural Experiment Station at Fort Hall in Oregon Territory. They brought their families with them and built a small cabin there that is still standing today. Mountain Home's heyday as a mining town came to an end when all of the major veins of silver ran out during World War I and other mines closed down. However, because of its location near Fort Hall, Mountain Home has continued to be home to some of America's most important agricultural research institutions - including University of Idaho - ever since.
