Since the early 1900s, the Air Force has been a major part of Idaho's economy. Through its various branches and agencies, the Air Force provides stability and security to our state. In recent years, air force gift history has become an important part of local culture in Mountain Home. The first military unit stationed in Mountain Home was the 1st Cavalry Regiment on December 3, 1907. The regiment served as a garrison unit until 1912 when it moved to Boise City to join the Regular Army. On November 25, 1912, President William Howard Taft signed legislation providing for establishment of a National Guard Bureau within the Department of War. The headquarters for this new bureau would be located at Fort Douglas in Boise City. On January 14th, 1913 troop strength at Boise City had reached 30 officers and men! Additionally on that date Headquarters Nevada Division (Air Corps) was activated at Fort Lyon with Colonel Augustus Sweeny as its first commander. In 1914, during World War I there were many changes within the Air Force including: creation of Tactical Air Forces; enlargement of National Guards Bureau; and reestablishment of Directorate-General for Military Aeronautics under which all combat aeronautical units were subordinated except those under direct command of an army corps or navy departmental head...With mobilization impending in 1917 came increased interest in aviation by both militaries and civilians alike who began purchasing tickets for air shows throughout America...On July 15th 1917 Major General Edwin Birdwood ordered all American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) forces east of Düsseldorf into Czechoslovakia so that United States planes could bomb German targets from there...As hostilities continued Europe experienced an economic boom thanks to munitions exports from Germany going through Austria then Hungary before reaching Hungary’s largest city Budapest where they were unloaded on board French ships called Lusitania[1] This event is generally considered to be the beginning of World War II[2] After September 1939 Nazi Germany annexed Austria while claiming Czechoslovakia as their own territory leading to increased tensions between nations including claims by both America and Europe over control over airspace near their borders

The Air Force gifted the Mountain Home community a new hangar in 1997. The gift was made possible through a bequest from the late Major General Edwin "Ted" E. Wright, USAF (ret). The hangar is currently used by the 45th Fighter Wing of the Idaho Air National Guard and is also home to the Air Force museum.

When the United States Air Force was founded in 1947, it had a very different approach to air power. At that time, bombers were the mainstay of America’s air forces and soldiers were used to fight on land. The USAF decided to change this in order to take advantage of the technology available at the time. One such technology was jet engines. It wasn’t until 1952 that these began appearing in airplanes and soon they became an essential part of American fighter planes. This made the USAF even more powerful, as fighters could now stay airborne for extended periods of time without having to refuel or fly back home. Warwick Wright designed what is still considered one of the most advanced jet engines ever created – the Wright-Patterson AFB J-2F engine. After its introduction into service in 1955, this engine helped provide decisive victories against North Korea and Vietnam respectively. The USAAF also acquired other jet engine technologies from other countries during this era, including Russian RB-47s and British Vickers Viscounts. With so many different weapons systems being developed by America during these years, it’s no wonder that gift history has been so important for airforce members throughout their careers! Mountain Home is a small town in the Snake River Valley of Idaho. It was founded in 1881 by mining entrepreneurs John Wesley Powell and James Fenton, who named it for home on the Mountain House Fork of the Snake River. The first store was opened in 1883, and the first post office in 1886. The main businesses today include a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant. In 2007, Mountain Home became an incorporated city. Mountain Home has been long associated with silver mining, as it was where two of America's most famous silver explorers, John Wesley Powell and James Fenton discovered significant quantities of silver ore during their expedition through the Snake River Valley in 1875-76. For many years after these discoveries were made, Mountain Home was one of America's leading silvermining towns because its location and resources allowed for high production rates. Today, Mountain Home is still a major center for silvermining operations because its sites provide important access to both fresh water supplies and undergroundsilver veins that are numerous enough to support large mines but narrow enough so that large open-pit mines cannot be established without damaging surface land or destroying local communities.
Mountain Home is a city in Butte County, Idaho, United States. The population was 4,812 at the 2010 census. The first post office in Mountain Home was established on November 14, 1885. It served the town of Mountain Home and the surrounding area. The first store in Mountain Home was established by Wm. Halsey and his son-in-law J.W. Grier on October 6, 1886. The first school in Mountain Home was organized on December 3, 1889 by Mrs. Sarah Senter and Drs. Senter and Fenton with $600 from Mrs. Senter's sister-in-law Averill Halsey to finance the cost of construction of a schoolhouse which opened on February 13th 1890 under the name of Green Valley School District No 2 or Alpine School District No 1 according to its charter granted by an act of Congress approved January 7th 1890 (33 Statutes at Large [Laws Of America] Chapter 951). In 1912 there were 25 businesses in downtown Mountainhome with an aggregate value of $226,362; however this number has since decreased due to multiple moves out of town over time as well as attrition from local businesses that have closed down because they could not keep up with the growth rate for other businesses within their industry such as internet cafes or real estate agents located just outside town limits
