The Idaho National Guard was organized on November 16, 1907 and placed into federal service on December 1, 1907. The unit was first stationed in the town of Chubbuck. On July 10, 1912, the Guard was moved to Butte County and on October 15, 1912 it became a regiment. On May 18, 1916 the Guard relocated to Rexburg where it remained until 1940 when it relocated to Boise City. The current organization of the Idaho National Guard is as follows:
Chubbuck is a small town in Idaho, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. The name Chubbuck comes from the local creek that flows through the town. The current town was founded in 1907 by prospectors and traders looking for new water sources in what was then an arduous trip over snow-covered mountains to find oil and gas reserves in what is now Wyoming. The original settlers were among the first people to arrive in this isolated corner of state when it became available due to irrigation projects built nearby by Boise City Electric Cooperative. Chubbuck has remained a primarily agricultural community with a focus on cattle ranching and potatoes since its early days as a settlement, though there are also some small businesses and services associated with its growing commercial center – including two banks, several restaurants, two grocery stores, and a health club – which have helped make it one of the most vibrant communities in central Idaho. The town's long history began with pioneer Hyrum Chaffee coming across an acreage of sagebrush near present day Chubbuck Creek during his 1868 survey for Post Road Company north of Stanley on what is now state line between Oregon (the old Oregon Trail) and Nevada (the new territory acquired by Congress after the Mexican-American War). He organized a wagon train around May 1, 1869 to take advantage of newly discovered resources along Snake River Valley before heading back across country via Wells Creek Pass into Utah Territory where he found oil wells worth $10 per barrel! Chaffee would go on to become one of Boise's earliest residents and serve as Mayor from 1893 until his death in 1902; he had earlier named his creek after him! On November 4th 1905 Orville Sargent Chubb established Chubb Farms Limited Partnership No 3221 consisting entirely wholly or principally of Real Estate having located at [town], Iowan County,[location] Wyo., about 9 Miles square geographic extent thereof bounded northerly by Washoe County Line extending thence easterly 300 Yards towards Chuba Bluff thence northerly 500 Yards towards Payette County line extending thence southeast 100 Yards towards Salmon Butte thence southwesterly 300 Yards to latitude 29° 30' N Longitude 117° 15' W Elevation above sea level 6500 feet To be known hereafter as "Chubb"
The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1775. The Guard was formed as an emergency militia in order to provide support for the President and the government during times of war or insurrection. Today, there are over 350,000 Guardsmen serving in all 50 states. One of the most unique aspects of the National Guard is its history as a gift from one state to another. Chubbuck, Idaho is a small town in the Boise Valley located in the eastern half of Idaho. It was founded in 1887 by John Chubb and his family. The town has a population of about 350 people today. The first white person to come to Chubbuck was John Chubb, who came overland from Oregon in 1887. He started a store and hotel here and also developed some land. In 1915, he sold his land to the city of Boise for $10,000. Today, much of the original infrastructure from when Chubb first settled here still exists: The old schoolhouse is still used as a meeting place today, as are several churches and other buildings from back when the town was smaller. In addition, there are a few remaining shops and businesses open around town today (mostly agricultural). The history of Chubbuck goes back even further than that though; it’s been home to Native Americans for centuries! When Ft. Hall decommissioned in 1865, many soldiers went off into exile on various reservations scattered throughout western US until they finally returned home in 1889-1890 under army escort led by General Lew Wallace – one of America’s most famous cavalry leaders at the time! This military convoy brought over 1,500 Native American warriors with them across Boise River valley – providing an opportunity for peace talks between these groups which eventually led to negotiations surrounding Indian removal schemes within months! Following these events, many settlers began moving into what would become known as “the new northwest” starting with John Chubb himself! Over time however, more and more residents decided to move out west due mainly to pioneers having options available hereabouts after years of struggling through tough terrain back east (in New England). By 1894-95 just 10% of all those living in Chubbuck had actually arrived since federal agents were only authorized & funded for relocation purposes up until then 🙂 In 1902-03 William Hurd set up a sawmill & millrace near present day Walmart which became central to local production during this time – irrigation being key for this early period especially given prevailing dry conditions elsewhere at that point!
