Chubbuck is a small town in Butte County, Idaho, United States. It was founded in 1887 by John Chubb and his wife Sarah. The Chubbks were the first white people to settle in the area. In 1902, they built the first post office in Chubbuck. The town has experienced many changes over its history, including a significant influx of Hispanics during the 1990s-2000s Hispanic Migration to Boise, Idaho; however, most of Chubbuck's recent population growth has come from births within the community and tourists who visit nearby attractions such as Butte National Park. The townsite was named after John Chubb because he sent out two men to explore what would become Butte County in 1868. The name "Chubb" is also used for local businesses and schools located near the intersection of U.S Highway 95 and State Highway 6 (the old A Street). The current courthouse building was completed in 1903 on land donated by Mrs. Sarah Chubb and moved from its original location on Main Street to its present site at Sixth Avenue and Broadway in 1951 after it suffered damage during a wind storm that year.
