Caldwell is home to the first potteries in Idaho and one of the most significant coffee roasting traditions in the United States. The Caldwell Coffee Roasters, founded in 1984 by local illustrator Bruce Yoder and his wife Barbara, continue this tradition today. The company produces a wide variety of coffee beans and roasted products including espresso, iced coffee, chamomile tea, and small-batch K-tea.

Caldwell was founded in 1907 by John Caldwell and his wife, Anna. The community is located on the Blackfoot River, about 20 miles north of Boise. At its peak, Caldwell had a population of over 2,000 people. In the 1920s, Caldwell became a popular tourist destination for people traveling to the nearby Rocky Mountains. Today, the community is home to a small population of retirees and students from Boise who visit each year for their summer vacation. John Caldwell was born in 1884 in North Carolina and came to Idaho with his family in 1907. He worked as an electrician before starting his own business in 1923. During World War II, Caldwell served as an infantry officer with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Lewis near Seattle. After the war ended, he returned to Idaho and started his own electrical company which he ran until his death in 1957. His wife Anna died in 1951 after long years of illness; she is buried at Greenwood Cemetery outside of Caldwell.(1) Anna Caldwell was born in 1865 in Ohio and arrived with her parents to what is now Caldwell when she was just 16 months old. She married John Caldwell two years later and they started farming together until 1914 when they moved into townhomes on State Street.(2) Anna passed away in 1951 after long years of illness; she is buried at Greenwood Cemetery outside of Caldwell.(3)

As espresso became more popular in North America during the late 19th century, small-time farmers turned to roasting their own beans for sale at local cafes and restaurants. This process of self-production helped create a unique flavor profile for artisan coffee that continues to this day. Thanks to its low acidity level and wide variety of antioxidants, artisan coffee has been shown to have significant anti-inflammatory properties as well as being an effective antioxidant source.

Beginning in the late 1800s, coffee beans were hand-picked and roasted by small farmers in regions throughout the world. Many of these beans would then be exported to Europe for brewing. As coffee became more popular on a global scale, roasting and marketing methods began to change as well. Coffee beans started being sold in bulk at grocery stores and then packaged into cans or boxes. Today, coffee is enjoyed all around the world and many people are still familiar with artisan coffee thanks to its unique flavor and history.

Caldwell was founded in 1893 when James W. Caldwell and his family moved from Council Bluffs, Iowa to the small town of Caldwell. The community quickly grew and by 1915 it had a population of over 350 people. In 1944, the U.S. government decided to build an airfield in the area which would become known as "Caldwell Air Force Base". The community continued to grow and by 1969 there were over 1,000 people living in Caldwell. In 1990, the U.S. military closed down "Caldwell Air Force Base" and many of the residents left for good. Over time, some have returned but most have moved on to other communities in Idaho or elsewhere in the United States because of lack of jobs or affordable housing in Caldwell itself. Today, few people live within walking distance of any businesses or services while still remaining largely intact from its early days as a lively small town with a rich history that is still enjoyed today by residents and visitors alike

Caldwell was founded in 1872 by a group of Mormon pioneers. The town became known as the " Gateway to the Rocky Mountains" because of its location on the edge of Idaho's high mountain range. Caldwell grew rapidly during the early years, and by 1888 it had reached a population of over 1,000 people. In 1907, Caldwell was named one of nineteen communities in eastern Oregon established as part of the Bureau of Land Management. The town continued to grow during World War II; by 1945, it had more than 10,000 residents. After the war, Caldwell experienced a period of growth and development which included several new businesses and an expansion of its infrastructure including an agricultural center and a shopping mall.
