The Army has been present in Blackfoot since the early 1800s. The first military presence in the area was a small detachment of men and women who served as guides and scouts for the U.S. Cavalry during the Gold Rush period of 1848-1849. The first permanent military installation in Blackfoot was Fort Hall, which was built on land donated by Major General George Armstrong Custer in 1877. In 1912, Congress passed an act authorizing the creation of a national guard unit in Blackfoot adjacent to Fort Hall. The unit was called the 9th Infantry Regiment, National Guard and it began operations on July 1st, 1912. It is significant that this initial incarnation of the National Guard played a critical role in helping protect America during World War I and II. Since its inception, Blackfoot’s military community has undergone many changes. In 1969, when Fort Hall closed its doors for good, black soldiers from all over America marched into town to protest the color barrier thenexisting within the military at large. This event is known as “Blackfoot’s Redeployment Day” and it remains one of history’s most notorious moments for Native Americans living within NATO forces today! Today, there are more than 3500 active duty Soldiers and Marines stationed at Fort Hall across Idaho and Oregon; as well as an estimated 2000 civilians support staff members providing support services to both installations including transportation logistics and housing accommodations for Soldiers on post!

The Blackfoot Indian Reservation was established in 1877. The first Lakota soldiers were sent to fight for the United States in the Mexican-American War, and many more followed soon afterward. In 1887, the U.S. government created a new reservation in the area that would include the Blackfoot and other Sioux tribes. The army continued to arrive in ever greater numbers, and by 1913 there were more than 26,000 military personnel stationed on the reservation.
Blackfoot, Idaho is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Clark County, Idaho, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,906. The name "Blackfoot" comes from the Snake River language and means "people of black cloth." The first permanent residents of Blackfoot were a group of Pahkáté Indians who arrived in 1841. They raised horses and hunted game to support their lifestyle. In 1847, white farmers arrived in what is now Clark County and began to settle the area. soon after they started trading with the Pahkáté and other Native Americans for goods such as trade goods and livestock. In 1865, a post office was established at Blackfoot; it continued to serve until 1907. From 1870 onward, Blackfoot became an agency town under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It was designated as a center for agricultural research because it had good soil that could be used for crops such as cotton and potatoes. In 1902, Blackfoot incorporated as a city; it remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became part of the new town of Rexburg annexed by Boise City proper. In 2012, Black Foot's cityhood was revoked by Boise City due to denial of petition signatures from citizens who desired incorporation into that city pursuant to Article VII (2) Constitution & By-Laws thereof; however this decision has not been appealed yet which leaves Blacks Foothills Mayor Pro Tem Darrell Lovejoy with effective control over both cities' councils - providing all vital services within their respective boundaries

The Crow were allowed to keep their traditional way of life, including hunting and fishing, but they were also required to create schools and adopt English culture. The Blackfoot people first arrived in what is now Blackfoot in 1867. They were Native Americans who lived along the Snake River in what is today eastern Oregon and southeastern Washington. Their ancestors had come from Asia some time before that. Some members of the tribe migrated westward overland during the 1840s under conditions of great drought and famine. By 1865, however, most members of the tribe had died from disease or battle with Indian traders or settlers. In 1868, about 10% of all adult male Blackfoot residents were Toolmakers (a term used for those who made tools). TheseToolmakers produced goods such as Bows & Arrows, Axeheads & Hammers,Indigo Dyeing Material (used for clothing),and many other items used byNative Americans both inside and outsideof their own community
The Blackfoot people are an Indigenous people who live in Idaho and parts of western Montana. They descended from the nearby Athabaskan community of the Kootenai Tribe. The Blackfoot language is spoken by about 50,000people.
